Another indication of how daft FFP is, so a owner removing large amounts of debt above 5million from the club is forbidden.

Not really. The whole point is that clubs run themselves sustainably by paying out less than they get in. The way to do this is to pay less in wages. Owners pumping millions in is not sustainable and does nothing to promote sensible spending. FFP isn't perfect but it's a damned sight better than anything previously in place to protect clubs like ours ending up like Pompey or Coventry off the back of crap ownership.

Is this happening? I barely pay attention over the summer so have probably missed something.

"Officially" nothing is decided yet and I have been told not to worry about the rumours.

Unofficially I think it is a done deal.

Bastards.

I am afraid that if you really think that FFP was brought in to help Football League clubs, you are sadly naive. Once we are settled into a system whereby the same teams that are relegated are, almost automatically, gaining promotion the next season, the next "good idea" will emerge. Why not jettison the relegation/promotion concept and set up a feeder club system?

What are the stats on relegated teams getting automatically promoted the next season? I'm genuinely curious.

For as long as I've followe the game people have been talking about promotion being much easier for rich relegated sides. It hasn't happened yet. Money is a lovely advantage but doesn't meam much if you're badly managed, which is why these teams come down in the first place.

For as long as I've been interested in football people have blamed managers for relegation as if it were all their fault. ;)

I saw the number somewhere the other day, but can't remember exactly now or where I saw it. A lot lower than I expected though... Think it was about 17. Sure it worked out as less than one per season anyway

i tend to agree with this in general terms. the new higher parachute payments should mean that the relegated clubs have an even better chance of promotion in season 1 or 2. with the established championship clubs hamstrung to a degree by FFP, it will be interesting to see how the dynamics are affected. i always thought promotion last season was vital to avoid the problem we now have re FFP. now its real gun to the head stuff as missing out this season will be double whammy as the relegated teams next season come down with even bigger war chests and players not yet necessarily on the larger contracts that the bigger sky deal will deliver.

I meant the management of the club in general rather than of the team, although that was very clear in my post. Not that it necessarily follows, in all fairness. So yeah, talking bollocks. :icon_bigg
