Back to the thread....
We went to The Golden Fleece in South Croxton (it was actually another Groupon voucher - 3 course meal for 2 with a glass of whine each, £28.00 i think)
We were there a little early on a Saturday night, 6.30 it was booked for. The place is pretty big so it felt a bit empty with only a few of the tables being booked. Towards the end, as it was filling up, the atmosphere improved.
The food was superb, and the portions were pretty big.
It' a bit on the expensive side for a 'pub' but well worth it in my opinion.

I've been there a few times Han. I know what you mean about the size of the place, but agree totally about the food, it's been very good every time I've been there. They also have an 'early bird' menu if groupon vouchers aren't available which is good value of you can eat early in the evening.

Does anybody know a place in the city centre that has a really good salad bar? Vegetarian would be fine but so would cold meats.

Thank you. However, my use of the word "bar" was misleading. I meant to eat there rather than take away.
