Beating Southampton and Wolves along the way

Remember how piss poor they looked against us ?

Well, look at them now - with that 'failure' of a manager that some suggested would be no better than good old Rob Kelly, and probably a lot worse

Then look at how piss poor we are

No doubt the mgt team and a lot of the players have to go in the summer.

A lot of people here were in favour of Newell (I was not convinced, as I was with Dowie) and look what has happened to Luton since. I was keen on Davies, but we didn't have the cash or balls to go after him - and who knows, he may not have been as successful with us as he has been with the sheep (look at Curbs at West Ham).

It will be interesting to see who he gets in as manager and if they will be any better - let's hope so!

Hard to pick out out individuals, but Maybury was truly woeful - how he keeps getting a game is utterly beyond me

I dont think Maybury passed to one blue shirt all night long. He was truely awful.

One cov fan on 606 put it all down to dowies techniques and the training software the club have heavily invested in, just goes to show what an extra yard opf pace can do for a team.

To be fair to Newell, Luton have now twice sold his best players, leaving him with a load of cack

Dowie has done at Covscum (so far, his honeymoon period may burst too, finger's crossed) exactly what a good manager needs to, and that's kicked them all up the backsides and got them playing to their strengths. Exactly what we need...... Which is why I was never against his coming here actually.

didnt want dowie, i only see it as short term, how long before those training techniques are back to cricket, and getting lost on an away game.

i dont know who because its not my job but we need someone for the long term to be here for years. im fed up of 2 manager sa fecking season its a joke.

If we cannot attract a Keegan, Dalglish or Harry Redknapp type of manager then I would prefer to see us go down the route adopted by Sunderland of appointing a high profile newcomer rather than going down the route of appointing other teams failures. Keane has worked wonders and you can see that he has learnt under such greats as Cloughie and Fergie, his reputation and contacts has also attracted a number of players who would never have considered joining prior to his arrival. I would however be keen to see an experienced assistant / Director of Football to help.

Possible candidates IMO would be as follows, all players with huge respect, experience of this division and born winners :

Teddy Sheringham
Les Ferdinand
Gary Speed
Nigel Winterburn
Lee Dixon

I'm quite happy we didn't get beat tonight. After the results of both clubs on Saturday i could see them winning and pulling us back into the dogfight
. I dont care what RK says about having plenty to play for, imo most of our team are already on their summer holidays. I also think that a number of them know that they are not going to be good enough for the MM revolution, and therefore can't be arsed which is reflecting in passionless and lacklustre perfomances. I expect half this side to be gone by August.

Something I attempted to get at earlier in the thread BB. Basically, this team isnt good enough, very average with a very average coach manage them. It's up to them to prove themselves to MM for the coming seasons. Any finishing position over 12th would paper over the cracks, meaning we have this current batch and manager here till October.

Elvis (yes Elvis) nearly changed the game for us with his excellent movement and pace

The last three games he's came on and looked dangerous. Obviously, something's clicked into place that his job is on the line.

Agreed, we have a chance to 'go for it', the division is poor. So any team built with some quality (which these kind of guys should attract) would give us a team in the Top Ten next season.

Jesus, that's a risk...

So is keeping Kelly, any managerial appointment is a risk, however rather than appoint one of the usual suspects off the managerial merry go round, if we cannot attract a proven man then I see no reason why we shouldn't follow Sunderlands example.

I'm not up for another "let's see if this guy could be the next big thing" without any sort of track record. Sunderland got lucky - very lucky it appears - but they could easily be where Leeds are now if it hadn't worked out.

The main problem for me is the fact that we haven't got a MANAGER, we've got a coach in charge. I'm not sure I'd be happy to replace him with an unproven ex-player. Not this time at any rate.

Having said that, I wouldn't be that surprised if Jamie Redknap is our next boss, in which case, we're back into the guessing game...

a quick thing from last night

Id like to thank wise for being an unproffesional wanker when they scored by turning and gesturing towards our fans instead of organising his wildly out of control players, they couldnt believe they had scored and were all over the place.

thanks wisey for being such a smug little **** that you cost your team a possible win by compleyley losing all self respect and proffesionalism.

WANKER

You reap what you sow. The poisonous little cvnt is going down. HA!

Edit: talking about Wise, obviously, not Jamie Redknap.

The thing thats worrying me is that 50 pts might well not be enough this Season for safety

Leeds and Luton are 3 and 4 losses away from us being secure with 50 points from 24th and 23rd.

So if Leeds were to lose 3 games between now and the end of the season and we gain 50 points. It means we wont come 24th.

If Luton were to lose 4 games between now and the end of the season and we to gain 50 points. It means we wont come 23rd.

I think we will be on 49 pts by Saturday, 5.30pm.

Can't see us beating QPR sat'day either really..... I'll be there though, so that's alright then.
