Abe played really well and created the goal for Gally. The best moment of the whole game was when Captain King ran to Abe and put his arm around his shoulder to run with him towards the rest of the celebrating players in the corner. A true captain.

So the player that has been getting the most slack scored the winner, and the player getting just under that amount of slack was playing brilliantly :icon_lol:

Normal service will be resumed next time!

Good result, iffy performance. Impressed with Abe for first time as he looked as if he wanted the ball and knew which country he is standing in. Got barred from The Counting House as well, of all the bars! ****ing student bellends couldn't serve a pint if their life depended on it.

Have to agree that I thought Weale looked... I'm not sure nervous is the word, possibly over-enthusiastic. Several times in the first and second half he ran out far too quickly and a lot of his clearances were substandard, if we'd played a better team he'd have been punished for it. But hopefully keeping a clean sheet will have given him confidence.

Vitor looked great, Naughton and Hobbs were good, Cunningham was solid (not as attacking as Berner but he did have that one great run). No tinkering for the next match please Sven. Though I can see he'd be tempted if Davies is fit.

As a critic of Abe's substitute performances, I was impressed by him today, one of our better players (and for a little guy he wins a good few headers). Him and Gally switched wings a few times but for me he looked best on the right. I kinda want to see him take a set piece as that was pretty much all people said about him when he came here, that he was good with corners and free kicks. L1 sang 'Yuki gives us a wave' a few times but I don't think he understood.

Fryatt was average and obviously low on confidence, he linked up with the team outside the box but hesitated to pull the trigger in the box. Waghorn was poor and lost the ball a fair few times, I was surprised Fryatt was taken off first.

Gally, Wellens and King all played well. Wellens should learn when to shoot (though that could be said for a lot of our team, confidence again I think). Gally was more lively on the left, he had a good shot just before he was injured (though his leg was hurt I think he was holding his back as he walked off so maybe that injury is back?). King got into the box a few times but the passes to him were never good enough.

N'Guessan was crazy enthusiastic when he came on and scared their defenders a bit by charging around but no real show of quality. (He wasn't offside though)

Around me the reaction was Davidson (very light clapping, possibly just me), Brown (light booing, continued at various points in the match), Hume (Huuuuuuuuuuuuuume + clapping).

we seem to have lost the confidence we had under pearson, 1-0 against a team low in the table. The biggest upside is I can see its the first clean sheet in a while. But I want to start seeing us win games by at least 2 goals at home.

Good win but we've got a long way to go.

Preston were totally dreadful. I am careful to praise Vitor in his physical one-on-ones he'll win because he attacks the ball. However, his positional sense and communication needs improving.

Fryatt I didnt think was that bad. At least he held the ball up and passed to a City player. That's a lot than Waghorn losing it through over-ambition or Howard heading it to no-one. However, in the 18 yard box he was poor. Abe has learnt about the physical side very quickly.

Wellens proved his worth today. Gally finally had a shot on target. Cunningham looks more than adequate too...and if his run was finished with a goal it would have been one of the best City goals ever.

Fryatts league 1 season has done him no good on here, if he doesnt score then everyone jumps on his back and hes "fecking useless". Its baffling.

Interesting that no-one has mentioned how King played, considering he was made captain today and he is flavour of the month. Think Leigh mentioned earlier on that he looked good, what did everyone else think?

A much needed win against a crap side,Fryatt and Waggy struggled to make any real impact today....but give credit to Vitor and especially Yuki,he looked class at times and that should shut the doubters up on here.

Aside from the fact that it was Waghorn's strength in holding off brown that directly led to the goal. For me it was Fryatt who was totally anonymous. Need to get someone in who can convert the bucket load of chances we made.

By his high standards it wasn't that memorable; one mistake nearly cost us dear when he gave the ball away needlessly. That aside, he was excellent at ticking things along, being there, making space, threading a pass through etc.. Really intelligent play beyond his years, as we are now used to.

More or less what I was going to say. Even his bad games are pretty good.

By no means a classic but I'm chuffed with the win. The only time we ever looked in any danger was when we tickled the self distruct button, but didn't press it.

I can only really echo what everyone else has said on here; Vitor, Naughton, Wellens, Cunningham, Gally and Hobbs (for the most part) played well. Special shout out goes to Yuki Abe though, I groaned when I saw he had started on the right but he looked good and set up a lovely goal.

Preston were utter wank, Walace was their only player who looked even remotely threatening. Abe had Davidson on toast, Wellens was too smart for their centre mids. We've got a very good team here, they just need to start playing like it more often.

I was about to slag off Waghorn for doing absoluely nothing, but having seen the goal, I realised he made a very big contribution by holding it up and laying it off to Abe. He also sent Clubber Brown flying, so not all bad! But he was poor, and completely fluffed the one real chance he had.

Vitor impressed me, but I still think Davies will play ahead of him.

I'd forgotton about infuriating some our fans really are.

I sat in SK4 yesterday (I don't get to see that many games as I work a lot on Saturday afternoon), and knew pretty much instantly that I'd have to move at some point during the game.

This moron next to me booed Gallagher and told him to "**** off" when the teams were announced.

He also shouted abuse when Howard and N'Guessan came on and then berated Sven when he came to the touchline in the second half.

He was clearly a knuckle draggers, who thought he was funny with his "quips" but it's even more infuriating when the idiots near him laugh along.

He also cheers Hume - which I didn't understand - and said "why are you cheering a guy that tried to be clever and missed a penalty against Sheffield Wednesday and was part of the worst team in the history of the club?"

His reply...."yeah, but Waghorn also missed a penalty against Cardiff"

:bang:

It absolutely staggers me sometimes.

I'm not a massive fan of Howard or N'Guessan or maybe one or two of the others plays, but I don't berate or criticise as they come on. I try to be positive and get behind the lads rather than get on their backs.

And why do some fans seem to think we need a manager with "pashun" on the touchline constantly?

I had to move after about 60 minutes - I'd rather sit on my own than listen to the moronic ramblings of idiots around me. Criticise by all means - but wait until afterwards when it's justified.

As for game, Abe and Vitor were excellent. Naughton looked great going forward but I feel needs to get the ball in a tad earlier sometimes.

Can we also have someone at the far post when taking corners? So many balls went to the far post and NO ONE was there.
