Powell and Stowell looked like they really enjoyed that yesterday, I really hope they both stay on with Sven.

Less of the Michael Trotters please he's a friend of mine.

Doesn't mean he was any good though, does it? Junior Lewis could be my best mate and I'd still think he was the absolute worst player to ever pull on a City shirt.

I know, although I think it's fairer to use players like lewis and akinbadbye as they were paid a lot of money for being shit for a decent period of time.

Powell is hugging the lino, his name is James and a friend of mine in Nottingham!

Bruno Berner on the radio after the game said as much...we wanted to play the second half like the first but our fitness levels were not there....i was amazed he came out with a comment like that.

I'm not, the players can say what they think now can't they?

I thought there were a few thinly veiled attacks on Sousa, from Berner and Stowell (with regards making training fun and the use of the 4-4-2), found it quite amusing.

I thought he did a great interview, and yeah, his comments on the training on FRiday spoke volumes about how they trained under Sousa.

The back 4 played closer together and were much better organised. Not sure if Vitor is the solution at right back. We were hanging on after they scored, Wellens outstanding during this time when others were getting panicky. Their #16, Josh Wright, ran the show for them, surprised we didn't pressure him more. Abe was clueless and almost cost us the equaliser, Wellens having to head the shot out after Abe dithered and was dispossessed. In hindsight, Moussa should have been the first sub at right midfield, he looked good when he came on and scored with a powerful low shot to the corner. Waghorn did well with his goal, and looked far more dangerous playing off Howard than isolated on the wing. King had a quiet game and Dyer was fairly subdued although he did finish off a good move. Gallagher gave the ball away too much. Ikeme was OK.

Overall, better but still a lot of room for improvement.

I saw the goals on Sky this morning... thought Waghorn's was really good.

I have to say, big credit to Andy King. Dunno if anyone noticed, but Waghorn scored he tried to take off his shirt in celebration and King stopped him and held his shirt so he couldn't. Some people might think that's a small thing, but I think that's really good of him and shows he's got a good head on him. Think he could make a good captain one day.

Moussa's goal was good. They didn't show Powell celebrating with them

Just saw the goals on Iplayer.

If waghorn keeps scoring those, 3mil seems cheap. If Moussa keeps scoring, he's in. end of. Well taken goal. And Dyer? superb again.

All of it looks brilliant, and I'm looking forward to the season under sven. let's forget about the other games eh?

It was interesting that Sven said today that he liked the way we played. I wonder whether he was just being polite/positive or whether that means we'll be keeping the same system/style as Saturday. Bet he was chucking away to himself at how easy it will be to get better results than Sousa though.

Some notes from near the dugout.

It was interesting to see the change in Chris Powell yesterday. Under Pearson he spent the match days encouraging players about to go on or who had just come off. Very occasionally he would say something to Craig Shakespeare who sometimes then went to have a word with Nigel. (Shakespeare was also in communication with Walsh Sr high up).

Under Sousa all Powell did was the encoutagement.

Pearson used to bark out short orders to the players. Sousa seemed to use hand signals which I never understood and I am not sure the players did either.

As acting manager Powell hardened up and was quite abrasive when things were going wrong. His (and Stowells) comments were clear and loud. For example when Vitor was challengig down the line both were barking out "Don't foul don't foul don't foul"".

Incidentally Powell's language was cleaner than Pearson's.

Under both Sousa and Powell there is a real problem getting instructions to Abe.

Generally there was more passion coming from the bench than under Pearson or Sousa. Apart from the obvious wave there was some interaction with the nearby crowd - For example when Waghorn scored someone near me shouted at Powell "Thats what happens when you play Waghorn properly" Powell looked at us grinned and gave a thimbs up. It sounds trivial but it was a nice moment.

Originally I wanted Chris Powell to be manager. Everything I saw yesterday confirmed by preference for him over the Southgates and Dowies. Obviously the appointment of Sven is great but I got the feeling yesterday that Sven is very lucky with his backroom staff.

Spotted this at the game as Waggy ran towards us in L1. I commented to my group that it was really important as Waghorn is always likely to pick up a booking for a rash challenge, leading to a red.

Well done Andy King. :038:

I tried bringing this up in my group, but Clive said that it really wasn't appropriate and that we really should be concentrating on ways of controlling aggression in public.
He was right of course, but to be honest, sometimes I just want to pummel the flowery twat
