Haha. Just thinking about if we did get some games...

During the Competition, they have those video clips showing the city to everyone watching on TV. How surreal and odd would that be?

You're quite excited about all of this twaddle, aren't you ?

Facts given some 38 posts earlier!

Albeit 'facts' that are now irrelevant. Planning permission expires after 5 years if development has not started.

In any new application, City could certainly point to the fact that permission was initially given for a larger stadium and this would be an advantage to them. It would give the council opportunity to put further clauses in, certainly about P&R and possibly on other matters.

If the ground were still to be the ownership of the teachers' pension fund, I am not sure how they would see the prospect of an enlargement to the ground if the club were still to be having problems paying what is due on the original size.

It'd be something i'm never going to have the chance to see again. And i'm proud of my city.

OK some parts of it might be a bit of a craphole, but it's my city and anything that would get it some recognition ahead of Nottingham and Derby is well worth the investment.

A bit conservative methinks:)

Couple of things young boc, planning permission now only lasts 3 years. Although at the time when the application for this stadium was made it may have been given 5 years as this is something that only changed a couple of years ago.

Also this limit on planning permission only applies to making a start on the development. My understanding is that the 40K stadium was part of the original planning permission for the stadium and therefore by building what they have so far i.e. a 32K stadium they have therefore made a start on the overall development. Once a start has been deemed to have been made the planning permission is then indefinite and the remainder of the work can be carried out at any time. This is a loophole that I use regularly. Therefore the 32K stadium is effectively phase 1 of the overall 40K which includes a larger east stand, so therefore this planning permission still stands.

I thank you for your timely corrections.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it boc!

All three of you seem to have missed the bit about the attitude of the owners of the ground who may worry whether the football club will be able to meet the rent for an enlarged ground that they will rarely fill.

Notwithstanding what fcukcov wrote, the planning permission for the 40k stadium contains the details for a stadium fit for the time; it is inconceivable that a 40k stadium for a decade and a half later will be the same in detail and I am sure that further planning permission would be needed at that time.

This project is far from a definite.

If they were to amend anything from that which they have approval for they would need a new application.

This might be a stupid question...do we know whether the club have or could offer Teachers some long term sponsorship deal thereby offsetting some of the debt?

Surely it would be mutually attractive, better than Topps Tiles.

Does anyone have any idea of what we charge (season wise), to carry a sponsors logo on our shirt and so forth?

I would think that by that time there will be several clbs with new grounds.Would Middlesboro's ground not be one or Hull's ?

Dunno why they didnt just build a 40k stadium in the first place like they were speculating to.
