Well said Brown Nose, Mike, etc.

I'm surprised that some people are "embarassed". After 3 years having to admit you support Leicester. That's embarassment.

Listen to the post-match drivel from a fair proportion of managers, including some pretty sucessful ones, on match of the day if you want to hear embarassing.

If his methods do what he has done at a lower level - turn a bunch of footballers into something resembling a half decent team - then I will be happier than I've been for a good while.

Quite right OG. I am embarrassed to watch my side lose 4-1 at home to sides like S Weds/Wolves/QPR etc. and play like they don't give a damn.

Some people won't even be happy if we won this league at a canter next term, as they would feel embarrassed to admit they were wrong. Some people I don't think would like City doing well at all. Far more comfort in the under achievement.

I am not all suprised by the attitudes of some because it has so far been refreshing to see the openess of him towards the fans, who in general terms have never seen anything like this before (we've become so used to glib comments).

Martin although seeming to be still cutting his teeth in managerial terms, do'es not look or sound the type to be overawed by the task in front of him although its a hell of a jump in class, he has, reading through his short history
never shirked a task.
I do not expect too much this season, for he has a monumental task in trying to gell together a team of new personalities, social backgrounds, footballing backgrounds,
to play together, and that is'nt easy
I look forward to a season where we will compete as a team ,not as a few individuals, and hopefully finish in a respectable mid-table position and anything else will be a bonus.
But if everything goes right and we get away with without too many injury problems ........... who knows

I can see both sides to this argument.

Firstly I am going to defend MA on his mini world cup with Mars bars and BBQ sets as prizes....first class idea, if he can get the players competing and fired up for such little menial prizes then it shows that the squad is developing that winning mentality regardless of whats on offer to the winner, the true sign of a real competitor.

Also the last one in training theory, another very good idea, simple but will get the message across and instill the necessary discipline required.

However whilst I like MA's honesty and openness I do fear that his ramblings on the OS may yet be his undoing. Whilst at the moment it is all pretty new and harmless banter, I fear that his honesty may end up with him losing some of the players confidence and respect in the long term.

I think MA overall has done very well, and he does have some very good ideas and techniques however whether the ins and outs of each and every training session or what demands he has placed on a new signing to prove himself needs to be reported back to the fans and whether it is entirely necessary or benefits anybody remains to be seen.

welcome back :038::038::038:

But as in all things in football he will be as good as his last game. The jury is out so I suggest that we all enjoy the honeymoon period whilst we can and hope he can deliver what he say's he can. Here's hoping!!

:023: ;) Spot on.

the way he's training the team is the same way the staff trained the youth team which has worked well for the past few years ,well done to him hope fryatt gets a chnce to use his TOOLScon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

According to the rumours he already has with that bird from the casino alledgedly :icon_lol:

this has got to be the best post in the last 2 weeks......:038::038::038:

It has to be a sad comment on the current state of affairs that a post of mere common sense should be described as it is above. ;)

Welcome home.

Top post.

Does anyone know how honest his "honesty" is? :102:

It's just people coping without the weekly football results syndrome.

This thread is all boll-x; the manager seems to have a touch of the sun from his holidays; the players we have signed are generally a bit of a disappointment to the extent that we now have people wetting themselves over the signing of an unknown kid from Iran for God's sake.

All will be revealed by the time the autumn leaves fall....and either we will all be rightly applauding the new manager for delivering on half his rhetoric....or we will be sniping at another potential failure as he wends his way to Milan's well-oiled trap door.

I actually hope it will be the former - because it will be a change to enjoy us winning a few games and perhaps moving towards having some decent games to watch rather than the turgid stuff in the fizzy league.

Barnet & Brentford fans wouldn't think he's too 'honest' probably. MK Dons aren't a real club, so **** them.

... because of course if he is clever enough there will be a public "honesty" and a private "honesty" where only the players, say, are privy to the latter. ;)

That is just the way it is. ;) In the meantime there some that are preparing MA for a fall and others pumping him up all on the basis of some quasi-blogging on the OS. :icon_roll If that can really sway minds, I have some bridges in Manhattan for sale. ;)

Show me some football first before I praise or slag him. ;)

I think it's a bit too easy to be critical of his 'quasi-blogging' and not see it for what it is - just keeping people informed. He's not suggesting we should all explode with excitement before a ball is kicked. I think it's a refreshing sign and an indication of a confident man that can lay out his aims and expectations to the public in such a transparent way when he knows those same words will come back to haunt him if he fails.

I like his confidence, and the last manager that was a bit bonkers did rather well for us, so I'm sold.

ooooya fecker he is talking to us, the fans what a bloke he is. We all know whats going on now and how he is kicking the players up the arse.....what a manager:038::038::038:

What bollux I say, I would rather he keeps things to himself and let the results do the talking. If after all this he gets the team going good on him, but if it fails he ought to think of the backlash he will get as the fans will feel really let down.
I want him to do well, I really do, but I think what he is doing shows a lot of covering over things, tell the fans something and they wont ask other awkward questions. I would rather he keeps a low profile until things start showing for the better on the pitch.

The alarm bells rang when he admitted he might have taken a bigger step to far....
