So if pre-season was all hush-hush and then we lose the first game, would you be first on here saying 'What's he been doing the last six weeks?'

Now we know what he is doing. I think his keeping the fans informed style is genuine, even if it is not to all tastes. Maybe, once the season starts, he will even tell us why certain players are in or out of the team!

If all you want is the result, it sounds like you do not really want to be involved or engaged with the growth of our new team?

I am not suggesting we go to the extent of some Italian teams that produce 10 pages of interviews every day but I am very grateful that we have a manager that believes that communicating with his customers is an important priority.

It is a very long time since anyone at the club thought we ought to be kept informed or considered!

That nonsense is the sort of stuff I think will get the players loving the guy and giving everything for him.

I agree Babylon. He's a lot tougher than Rob Kelly/Craig Levein/and others - which i'm glad to see. Not just by making Newton earn himself a longer contract but also by making sure the youth players start from the bottom and earn their place atthe club.

MA is building his own club here with MM and next season might be tough with the squad we have. I'd like to see Clemence and DJ arrive - Clemence could be the midfielder we're in need of. Some more signings next summer...possibly better quality if we have a good season - the future's bright for City! The future's blue !! ;):038::038::038:

This is the manager we've missed - someone with some balls!:icon_bigg:icon_lol::eek:;)

and likewise will you be on here saying what a tosspot he is if we lose our first game?.... and if you think I will base him on our first game I suggest you get your head out of your arse and wake up

The whole point is about winning, or have I been badly misled all these years.
As for being involved or engaged with the growth of the "the new team", what a stupid statement to make.... since when did MA or MM ask for your opinion on the running of the club? All they will do is take your money, the same as any other business will do.

I can see both sides to this argument.

Firstly I am going to defend MA on his mini world cup with Mars bars and BBQ sets as prizes....first class idea, if he can get the players competing and fired up for such little menial prizes then it shows that the squad is developing that winning mentality regardless of whats on offer to the winner, the true sign of a real competitor.

Also the last one in training theory, another very good idea, simple but will get the message across and instill the necessary discipline required.

However whilst I like MA's honesty and openness I do fear that his ramblings on the OS may yet be his undoing. Whilst at the moment it is all pretty new and harmless banter, I fear that his honesty may end up with him losing some of the players confidence and respect in the long term.

I think MA overall has done very well, and he does have some very good ideas and techniques however whether the ins and outs of each and every training session or what demands he has placed on a new signing to prove himself needs to be reported back to the fans and whether it is entirely necessary or benefits anybody remains to be seen.

Pretty much where I stand A-Z Fox. Although I am not so thrilled at some of the signings - possibly somewhere where his inexperience could let us down.

FFS give the man a chance, all this after the first week of training!

He may well be as 'mad as a box of frogs' but some of you lot are as well for not even giving him 5 minutes before deciding he is not good enough!!

Welcome back Pinky BTW! :038:

Nobody has said he isn't good enough, just expressed concerns. Valid ones at that

What concerns are these, that he has gone back to the basics of team building and motivation? This is the exact thing that we have been crying out for the last 2-3 years!!!

Granted each player is different, so all will respond differently to his techniques, some will respond positively and others not so, but that is why he is building a big squad, so he has got options if players go off the boil or get injured.

I just think that we should at least let the team play a few competitive games of football before we are able to judge how good or bad his management techniques are.

Teams can play very well and not win against a better team - it is the performance that is important. Being involved doesn't mean seeking your opinion, no more than a jockey will ask for one when you put a £100 on to win, but most people like to be 'engaged or involved' by watching the race rather than just wait for the result.

the way he's training the team is the same way the staff trained the youth team which has worked well for the past few years ,well done to him hope fryatt gets a chnce to use his TOOLS :icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

According to the rumours he already has with that bird from the casino alledgedly :icon_lol:

Is there something I've missed here?

3 main concerns methinks

1) Another dawn/era, his use of blogging could be potentially seen as a new way of bullshiting fans into believing hype. Before it's been pathetic slogans and silly gimmicks. This new approach can be cynically seen as an attempt to get close to the fans.

2) Allen has gone up 2 levels in management and he's still learning. The last 2 managers (possibly Adams aswell) were learning their trade in this division and it failed miserably.

3) The lack of proven quality signings. Most of them are potentially good players.

It's general concern over Allen which covers his use of motivation. He's done it all before at Barnet, Brentford and MK Dons - but when it came to push his players the extra distance his methods failed.

that is the talk of a loser. Winning is everything. I would rather watch shite and have a win every time than play fancy dan stuff and get stuffed. I am much happier when we win as are most people.

and as for being involved just for watching, I am afraid you are just kidding yourself. I shop at Sainsburies, but I would not say I am involved or engaged with them. I simply shop there.

I care about what happens on the field, not what goes on a training field. We can all talk a good game, we can all run around a field like tossers, but the main thing and only thing is what happens on a match day. The result is everything
