What is the factual basis for blaming his agent? I mean I can see why it's appealing as agents in general seem to be greedy bastards and I too want Riyad to be a slightly dim but ultimately nice guy but it seems to me that unless there is evidence to the contrary we'll have to assume that Riyad is in charge of his own decisions

Wow, some actual sense on the subject.

It's like some on here can't stand the rejection and need to manufacture an alternate scenario to be able to live with the fact that the little, simple, and impressionable Mahrez does not want to play for Leicester.

Honestly can't see why that would be so upsetting. Just because he doesn't want to take over after Birch doesn't mean he can't be useful now

I've posted this in here, by the way, as I thought there may be some parallels with the implication that Mahrez's agent was controlling things and the way that clearly happens in this vid. It may or may not be the case and I could have put it in the general rumours thread, relating to deadline day, but thought it may fit the current discussion more in here.

I know you can book flights, send documents etc from smartphones, but if you are paying 10%+ of your contract to an agent, you are going to get them to do all the work.

If Mahrez has told his agent he wants a move, the Euros signs are going to light up in the agents eyes along with the 'You leave it to me son. Do what I tell you and I will get you a deal today. I will sort out the Algerian FA and get you off the flight to Zambia' etc etc.

Face it, none of us know what actually happened. The conjecture is fun but it is only conjecture. Whatever did happen (and it might have had nothing to do with potential transfers; perhaps Mahrez simply likes airports, or was visiting a sick relative, who knows) I'm quite sure Mahrez's agent would have known about it and may have even counselled against it if they'd thought it a silly idea.

A lot of the Sunday papers reporting he flew to Paris with a plan to join Man U

Actually, I have to own up, I met up with him. He shares my liking for Belgian buns from Greggs, messaged me and we met up to discuss our common interests. It wasn't CdG, it was Luton.

Great video, ppf.

Maybe my standards have sunk after the whole Coutinho saga but I still can't bring myself to get upset about him trying to get a move on the last day. As soon as he made clear that he wanted to leave I wasn't too bothered whether he sat at home or trekked around Europe as long as he fulfilled his contractual obligations with us. It's certainly embarrassing for him but that's his problem, not ours

Just had a quick look on FoxesTalk and it's like a bunch of teenage boys being simultaneously rejected by a girl for the first time. Like their sense of honour has been tarnished because he's not Steve Walsh

These people think that the club needs to come down hard on him to avoid losing authority, but it's actually the opposite that's true. It's through letting things progress normally and making him do what we pay him to do that the club shows itself to be bigger than any individual player.

Anyway... It will be interesting to see how he plays in the first two or three games after the break

Personally, I think the club should be working with him, not being hard. Yes - he wants to leave, see the world, try something new but as it stands, the people he wants to be with don't seem to want him enough.

I may be naive but being with him would be best for all. I think he could be a little different from some of the basic mercenary footballers around.

All I care about is the club, if Mahrez wants to go then fair enough but I don't want to see us sell Mahrez on the cheap just because he's decided he wants to leave. Every club sets asking prices, ours for Mahrez is £50m and nobody wants him enough to come close. **** selling him to Roma for just over half that. If you see a car in autotrader set at £4000 you don't drive down to Bristol and offer them £2000 and expect them to take you seriously....

Mahrez needs to be patient, show again why he's worth £50m of Barcelona's money and eventually he'll get his mood. He definitely needs a new agent, he has been very poorly advised and his whole outfit needs to grow up a damn sight.

When the odemwingie thing happened I thought that it was hilarious but wondered what I'd feel if it was one of our stars behaving that way. I can't help but find the idea of Mahrez sitting in an airport checking his mobile signal is working and there's still availability on flights to anywhere funny but tragic. The Odemwingie thing does show there's two options, pretend it never happened or send him on loan to Cardiff.

Maybe he was just very badly advised by his agent that a move was likely at to be prepared?

It's hardly like he has refused to play for us and by his performances so far, it seems like he's realised it's in his own interests to start performing to the maximum again so don't see why this will change.

I'm sure he's embarrassed by all the press coverage but at least he hasn't started faking injuries and refusing to play for us.

serendipity
ˌsɛr(ə)nˈdɪpɪti/
noun
  1. the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.
    "a fortunate stroke of serendipity"
    synonyms: chance, happy chance, accident, happy accident, fluke;
To me this is Mahrez. Pure luck we got him, the scouting team were looking at someone else and this is who we ended up with. Pure chance, but without him we'd never have won the league. In all my (many) years of following this club, I have never seen a player like this ( and I include Weller, Frank Worthington and the God that is Muzzy Izzett in this) in all that time. We've been blessed to have him. He's handle'd this period with real class compared to others. When he does go, he'll go with my blessing, having left me with the best memories.
I'll never forget that pass to Vardy against Chelsea or his goal against Man. City among many other moments. Lets enjoy the next few months. He's a legend.
