My point earlier in this thread was that the loss of Fryatt was not such a bad thing. Far from it being the end of our season, I thought it may actually be a blessing. Not that I don't rate him, just that we'd not been threatening much with him for some time.

He's now missed our last 5 games - 3 wins and 2 draws - 11 goals scored. We've not failed to score in any game since the last one he played in. In spells during those games, we've seen the most fluid and attacking forward play of the season.

I'd like him fit and back in the squad but nobody can surely claim that we're missing him. If he was fit next week, would anybody really want him in the starting 11? At his best maybe, but he'd not been playing like that for months.

I don't think its fair to blame Fryatt for us not looking like scoring-he was almost our most dangerous player on the pitch, and like Nathan said, I think the team had the mentality that Fryatt would get the goals, and were a bit slack, so now hes gone they've had to step up. Plus I don't think we can take the credit for scoring against Plymouth...

I think we should also give a big hand to Martyn Waghorn.

This guy has took that central role in the 4-3-3 / 4-5-1 and really stepped up to the plate.

I think Waghorn has done remarkably well since Fryatt has been on the sidelines.

I am however worried that we have no back-up to immediate hand should anything happen to him. He runs his socks off, and we can't expect that from Howard at his age. I don't think Waghorn can keep up this virtual one man show up front for the remainder of the season. I hope Nige takes this scenario on board and acts sooner rather than later.

Excellent post BN but, while Fryatt shouldn't walk back into the team if / when fit, it's my opinion that our 100% best team would have him (and Tunchev) in it.

agreed. I personally think we'd have to change our system again though, the current one suits us with Waggy more so than Fryatt I reckon

How excellent that we are even debating whether or not arguably our best striker can get back in the side. Well done Waggy and Gally.

Fair point Alex.

Glad to see you're speaking sense again after your out of character ranting at the F**est fool!!!

Gally
Fryatt
Lloyd

Very harsh on Waggy I admit (and Brown for that matter). Fortunately, it's only conjecture!

I think its a great thing we are not trying to use either Waggypants or Gallypants in Fattypants' role. NP has got the system working to suit both of them, wish we would pack it in playing it to Waggy's head though

Well, we are a hoof team after all......

just said on the moan in that he was at the training ground today and has lost a lot of weight because he can't eat solids.

I know plenty of people who appear to survive on liquids who certainly don't lose weight, just the art of rational thinking !

He's lost 2 stone, but is back in training next week.

Tsk, get him on the protein shakes!

That's mental that he's lost 2 stone because he's not been able to eat solids... That doesn't sound healthy.

Just seen on the back of the paper. Dave Rennie ( the city physio) has said it is doubtful we will see Fryatt again this season. But not because of his jaw but because he has lost 1 & half stone because he has only been able to drink milkshakes since the injury.

Just get him down mcdonalds every morning for a full fat sausage & egg mcmuffin the pounds will soon start rolling back on. after all we did used to call him Fatty Fry Up.:icon_lol::icon_lol:
