Remy left out of the Chelsea FA Cup squad with a "calf injury" according to SSN.

Dwight Gayle you say?

Not too disappointed with this, he has a very good goal scoring record with 1 in 2 throughout his career and 1 in 3 during his time with Palace, will be a good option and will provide much needed cover and respite for Vardy. Most importantly he fits in with current ethos of squad and won't disrupt the spirit and cohesion.

If Gayle is considered surplus at Palace, is he really going to be good enough for champions league / title chasing team?

As first team, no. As a good backup from the bench as an alternative to Ulloa, yes.

Too similar to Vardy & Okazaki in that he works a lot and a completely different player to Ulloa whereas we could do with an upgrade on him or something different to what we already have.

Gayle would be very meh for me, especially for £7 mill. Berahino would be a much better option even at twice the price.

Gayle might of been an OK signing for where we were, but if we want to maintain top 4 or even top 6-8 I don't think he's good enough.

Gayle is below our current level, however our current level is very unlikely to become our usual level.

Don't understand the Gayle link.

Apparently Doumbia is close to signing for Newcastle after being linked with us earlier in the window

Newcastle have offered 21M for Berahino
