I really can't see how anyone has enough evidence to judge Mendy. Even in the games he did play he was either half fit or clearly hadn't had time to integrate into either the team or English football. His injury record is a concern, sure, but I certainly don't think anyone has seen enough of him to write him off as a PL player.

Other than Claudio from managing him previously and who clearly thought he was worth chasing for two summers.

If he moves on then so be it, but I've no idea if he's any good.

I could be wrong here but didn't Claudio's signing fall short last season? I agree the majority of the title winning team played below par but apart from Ndidi was there any other signing that stood out?

£50m! That's pretty steep!

At £40m I thought well it's a lot of money but transfer fees have gone crazy and we should do it because he's a good player.
If we could get £50m for Mahrez, then £40m for Sigurdsson is about right.

At £50m I think I'd be looking elsewhere... But think it's probably massively thrown out if Everton are asking for £50m for Barkley who is now probably their 2nd choice attacking mid at best!

In their defence, they're probably hoping that's the reaction we (and Everton) will have - they don't want to sell him, they won't be able to replace with anything like the same quality, so they've set a ridiculous asking price.

No different to what we've done with Mahrez really. If you want him you've got to pay what we want. It's not necessarily what he's worth but that's the price, take it or leave it (except we'll probably back down and take an "undisclosed fee").

But we are showing intent on becoming a top 6 side, I can't recall anywhere Swansea intimating this or showing this by their purchases?

I'd offer them Ulloa or Lawrence or Musa in part ex. One of them and £40m would be ace business in this 3 or 4 yr period of ridiculous incomes for football clubs.
If Arsenal sign Lemar and fail to come in for Mahrez we would then be in an awesome place for the start of the season - Vardy, Slimani, Okazaki, Sigurdsson, Gray, Mahrez, Albrighton is not a bad 7 to compete for the front 4 positions
Rudkin must be pulling the 'they've now got Rooney, Claasen and Barkley in your position' card....
