The commentator said today that the loss in the corresponding fixture last year put City bottom, pretty amazing 13 months.

And another. After thirteen matches last season compared to this:

2014/15 - P 13 W 2 D 4 L 7 F 13 A 21 P 10 - Position 20th
2015/16 - P 13 W 8 D 4 L 1 F 28 A 20 P 28 - Position 1st

Struggling to contain my excitement. My Wife asked why i have been smiling since i got home from work (5:30). I told her it makes me happy to come home to her! she actually bought it, now i have some brownie points. Thank You LCFC.

Strange we only let one more goal in last season than this.

Last season wasn't as bad as people are remembering it. We competed in almost every game, never lost by more than 2, had some incredibly bad luck, and when push came to shove we finished 14th. It doesn't matter what order the points come in, it's how many you have in May that counts.

Obviously this season is way better, almost unbelievably so, but we were not a shit team last year at all - Wenger and others said we were one of the hardest teams to play against last year, even when they won.

I know it is extraordinary that we're top of the league but I'm going to get slightly annoyed by pundits talking about it in a 'pat the small boy on the head' kind of way.

If I were our billionaire owners right now, I'd stick in a £70m bid for Aguero or something. Seriously too, making it public. That would make the fecking world stop dead in their tracks.

Maybe I'm getting slightly carried away.

Nice to note the improvement in our defence.

Last stat of the night. Who were the last ten teams that were top after thirteen matches and where did they finish?

2014/15 - Chelsea - 1st
2013/14 - Arsenal - 4th
2012/13 - Man Utd - 1st
2011/12 - Man City - 1st
2010/11 - Chelsea - 2nd
2009/10 - Chelsea - 1st
2008/09 - Chelsea - 3rd
2007/08 - Arsenal - 3rd
2006/07 - Man Utd - 1st
2005/06 - Chelsea - 1st

So, no team top at this point over the last decade has failed to make the Champions League . . .

Also, half the time, the team top now wins the league.

Gulp!

If we win next weekend I think I might slip into a coma or something.

brilliant stuff today. started with awkwardness when the old ma decided she'd make everyone near us in the bar aware that she supports city. first half was mostly disguised by comments such as 'they're better than us' 'they're breaking so well' and such bollocks. once Vardy became the only Englishman to score in the Premiership or something there was a couple of handclaps about us but it was obvious that a group of 5 stood out. After the second went in there was a 5 year old trying to get us to do a conga and taking her jacket off to reveal a LCFC hooded top.....by that point there was so much radge round us it was hilarious

We are clearly a very good side but can we maintain this? We still have plenty of the big boys to play. If we were to lose one of Kante, Drinkwater or Vardy to injury, how would we cope?
Ranieri says he will not add in January but I think we should consider going for a couple of really special players.
