Jesse Marsch has held talks with Leicester City over their managerial vacancy as the club plans for all eventualities as they fight for their Premier League survival.
The former Leeds United manager is one of the candidates under consideration if the club decide to bring in another manager after tomorrow’s game against Bournemouth.
Caretaker managers Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell are handling that key fixture but if they don’t get a positive outcome the club could move quickly to appoint a successor to Brendan Rodgers, who left Leicester by mutual consent last Sunday.
Leicester have spoken numerous candidates and while they hope Sadler and Stowell can get the results to see them through to the end of a difficult season so they can go after a permanent manager in the summer, they are also weighing up the possibility of an interim manager or a permanent appointment if they feel that is their best chance of staying up.
Rafa Benitez and Sam Allardyce are possibilities for the interim role if they are interested, but Marsch has indicated he might be interested in taking the job even if Leicester go down to the Championship and he would oversee the attempt to return to the top flight.
Marsch’s style, the 4-2-2-2 or 4-2-3-1 Gegenpress system forged at Red Bull Salzburg, is seen as suited to the players Leicester have at the moment and more easily adaptable for the squad, but Leicester are exploring all options as they try to secure their Premier League status.
Leicester sit second from bottom and two points from safety after picking up just one point from their last seven games.
