Pearson to be sacked in the next 5 games?

I might be going crazy but I thought we had only played 5 games?

True....but do you really think the board will give Pearson any longer than Sven? I don't think they will, if anything his approach with certain players might give him a narrower window to show promotion form.

The club had turned into a total farse under Sven. We were in a financial mess and the players were disillusioned. I doubt we would ever see a perfomance like the one against Millwall under NP but if we did I think he'd resign.

I'd probably add Konchesky to the list of players he's fell out with. Seeing as we pulled out of the Beckford loan move at the very last minute, makes me think that the owners said no. Strikeforce definitely needs shaking up on Tuesday. It can't be Vardy and Nugent.

On the basis of what as he fell out with Konchesky? The fact he chased after a second left-back?

Beckford loan deal was backed out of because our target Harry Kane went Norwich on loan rather than us.

As for this Nugent/Beckford partnership chat.....from March onwards Nugent scored 3 goals and Beckford 7 goals which came in 4 games. This hardly Shearer/Sutton partnership goal ratio. Nugent was rather shit if we are being honest after the Norwich game.

It still had potential though. It showed signs of blossoming, no one said it was the finished article hence the use of the word 'promising'. Both were understanding each other and Beckford was creating a lot of space for Nugent to work in. Had we continued with those two this season as a starting pair, I certainly think we'd have scored more goals than we have.

Nugent has been poor, he also looks like he's put on a bit of timber over the summer.

Was there actually any credible source for the Kane move? I never saw it reported on any credible sites.

Well I think that it was 'promising' is cobblers too. Their highpoint was against Blackpool, 3 goals between the pair and a couple of assists.

After that? In 9 games played together, they were 2 goals scored by the pair. The players with the assists were Marshall and Gallagher. This is after a considerable time partnered together. I'd say they were given more than a decent shot as a partnership and after such a great game with each other, you'd think they would relish the rest of the season.

Stringer which is about as close as the club as we can get too confirmed Kane was the target.

Haha I certainly don't class Stringer as a credible source.

I appreciate that you think you are being the voice of reason Hazz but the fact remains that those 10 goals is more productive than the ratio we are currently producing.

The partnership being created was there for all to see, regardless of the goals total the movement and link-up was really starting to look good, that was dashed when Pear Son decided to break the partnership and then switch Beckford and Nugent around as if even he doesn't know what his perfered partnership is.

Plus I would say we look a lot more creative than we did last season, we squander more chances this season than we ever even created last, something needs to change.

Nugent is one of the main culprits missing the chances. The fans wanted Beckford out, they got their wish. They can't moan now. The fans wanted 4-4-2, they got it. They can't moan now.

Let's get one thing straight Pearson was never sacked by this club. Things might not have been looking rosy for him and he was given permission to talk to another club, but that does not constitute a dismissal.

He should never have come back though. I don't think he has what it takes to go beyond the Championship and be a successful manager in the Premier League. I can only ever see us reaching the play offs at best with Pearson at the helm. We made a short sighted decision to reappoint him which we now have to live with.

Constructively dismissed. :icon_wink

Players are making juvenile mistakes both in defence and attack - Pearson must feel powerlesss to stop these.

I also think that he is now faced with restrictions in order to get the wages bill down. Not surprising given the poor returns the owners have got for their spending and the potential debt shoved on the club's back.

That said, I never thought his acquisitions this summer looked convincing and my gut feeling is that the squad just isn't the right one to get promotion. Too fragile, too error prone and generally a bit of a soft touch.

I think the owners are quite likely to get rid of Pearson pretty quick if things don't reapidly pick up - sacking him when things go bad would be their default mode. Would things improve if they did - I doubt it.

I think Pearson is very close to the point of no return. Eriksson was sacked after thirteen league games, having won five, drawn four and lost four. We were only two points off the play offs and a win in that Millwall match would have put us fourth. Pearson needs his side to go on a run of three wins, four draws and a single defeat (or something garnering the same number of points) to even equal that. Such a run looks a long shot at the minute. My point being that these blokes don't hang around. Rightly or wrongly, I think he's just about done.

er....the ones that didn't call for it certainly can.

Same here. I think the lure of bringing in a name like Harry Redknapp might be too much as well if he were to show an interest in coming here.

On Pearson I don't know what to think. I like him but I just can't see him being the man to take us up. Typically I expected he might start slowly and gradually turn us around but I was thinking the slow start would be out of the way at the middle/end of last season when he came in. It would be nice if he were given some time to get a settled squad and not only that but get a settled club!

Maybe the problem here is less about what manager we have in and more about the level of massive expectancy to deliver Premiership football in god knows how long. The players just don't seem to be able to handle it. Maybe we are destined to be stuck in this league or lower until we lose our financial backing and are able to start enjoying our football again.

If we sack Pearson I shan't bother going down again until we have had the same manager for more than a whole season. The only exception to this would be of we get Redknapp, at which point I don't think I'd go again whilst he was in charge. I sat through Allen's "sign 30 players and see which are any good" policy, I don't want to see the platinum cost version.

If I really have to stick my neck out then I'd have to say that Pearson, however much I like him, isn't the manager to take us up. And we should have ambitions of promotion from this league; any other attitude is to accept the mediocrity of the last decade as the norm. It isn't, we're historically a yo-yo club and at the very least we should be aiming to win this division when we're in it.

On one hand I think that we should be keeping hold of Pearson just for the sake of some stability. I've had enough of annual sackings. But then again, if I'm going to accept stability for the sake of it, what's the point? There are managers with experience of winning this division in recent years available who would probably fancy a crack at the job in Keegan, McCarthy, Curbishley and Coppell. I don't think Redknapp would go near us and I'm not sure I'd want him, to be honest. If I, as somebody who likes Pearson, am thinking like this you can bet your house that the owners of the club are. Pearson needs a run of promotion winning form or he won't see bonfire night.

If someone like Redknapp came in and spent loads of money the people to blame would be the owners for giving him the cash in the first place. Just like it's their fault for handing Eriksson a big wedge. Any manager would use his available transfer budget to attempt to achieve his objectives. Not getting at you or anything; it's just something I hear a lot. "It's so and so's fault for spending this money on those players." The financial buck stops with those in control of the purse strings. They can always say no.
