There's no such thing as RRPs any more. As you say they can sell it at what price they like. However both stores offer a price match guarantee.

In any case why not buy it elsewhere?

They often do things like that in the run up to a sale, so they can reduce it to the RRP and advertise it as £40 off.

Go to Richer Sounds for Hifi stuff, they're usually much cheaper and the service is better too.

The Panasonic shop, Mays, John Lewis and everywhere else I looked were all out of stock other wise I would.

Incidently, Mays were selling it for £99.99, £10 above a supposed RRP but they offered to reduce it by a tenner without hassle. Oh, and that was before they realised that they had none in stock!
