However, it makes me chuckle that his first port of call for signings at a new club is anyone that he may have signed for city at one time.

Most managers are the same, MON signed players for us he'd worked with previously, (Prior, Guppy, Eadie), and did it again when he went to Celtic. Adams did the same thing, so did Levein.

True, but i was referencing to the fact that the players he signed to keep us in the prem were actually league 1 quality, not digging at him for signing the 'tried and tested', that most managers go for.

You are right Webbo, the problem is I don't believe Taylor has the ability to identify those players capable of making that step up, as proved with ourselves.

He has had success in lower divisions using many previous players he has worked with, either failed gambles at City such as Benjiman, Delaney, Ellison etc or players like Lewis who were proven at lower league level to then be hopelessly exposed when in the premier league.

I would imagine at Charlton he will rely on the U21's and a number of his key players at Hull, such as Delaney and Myhill as potential transfer targets

you don't think he's learned his lesson then?

I think he has in the fact that the players he signed for us in the Prem, he has continued to sign in the lower divisions, therefore finding their true level, however I dont believe he is capable of identifying players from outside the top flight that can make the step up, and when you are managing clubs like Leicester and Charlton in the top flight that is essential.

According to the news charlton have now made an official approach to hull to speak to him.

Lets face it is it was just a straight choice between living in London or Hull (officially the worst city in Britain) which one would you choose?:102: Also the attaraction of a new job could be just to much for him, but are Charlton gonna be happy having a manager that still has apart time job with the FA?:102:

According to the press, Charlton have asked Taylor to leave the U21 job, and I am sure he will only be too happy to oblige. This is Taylor's chance to mix it with the best, a chance probably even he thought would never come again, as for Hull, I am sure they will see this an opportunity to appoint a manager capable of taking them forward.

Im going to put £20 on Charlton to get relegated next season without doubt now!! :)

Don't think anyone wants Levein as Motherwell have today appointed Maurice Malpas to replace Terry Butcher, you would have thought Levein would have been in line for that job but wasn't to be.
