Puel out

Puel Out, Benitez in. Promise him a war chest and just make it happen. He's proven again and again that he's got the stuff.

I was an advocate for giving Claude a chance but it's now reached the point where every weekend is pathetically predictable and we are turgid shite to watch. Watched the Southampton highlights and wondered why they are now playing with much more intensity than we are after one week with Mr. Hassenhutl (sp?)
Our squad is being forced to play in a manner directly opposite to their skillset. Nonsense.

you complain about predictable turgid to watch football but advocate Benitez?
Just take a look at his squad. It’s a Championship standard squad so he has to play a certain way to get results for what’s at his disposal.

When he has decent attacking flair players in his squad, he plays some very attractive football.

Then take a look at our squad. Full of attacking players that are just being stifled. That’s the most frustrating thing.

Most Liverpool fans seemed quite happy with their Champions league win.
where's our Gerrard or Alonso? they also admit the football was crap

he was defensive at Liverpool, defensive at Chelsea and defensive at Napoli, Sarri with pretty much the same squad turned them into a very attacking side.

Benitez is and always has been defensive, he's a less successful Jose, including the constant moaning re transfers, even before Newcastle

defensive at Napoli
Are you sure about that? It’s my understanding that in his first season with Napoli, they scored the most amount of goals in a season in their history.

And Sarri had pretty much the same squad? Yes, the addition of Higuaín counted for nothing, clearly.

The difference with us appointing someone now and most mid-season appointments is we're not in any particular danger, so any prospective manager isn't coming for six months of the Premier League. Instead they can assess and shape the club over the next 5 months with a squad more than capable of achieving more than it currently is, before kicking on next season.

Just thinking on this a bit further. I wonder what damage we might do to ourselves in delaying the inevitable? The days of Peter Taylor, when we had a terrible end to the season and continued it into the next are in my mind, particularly given that this pretty much happened with Puel at Southampton.

There is a risk in continuing with this lame duck manager.

I would also say that if we could get someone half decent in, we have a good shot of achieving 6th and playing European football next year.

I don't want Benitez.

Moaning ****er

I did a run to the tip yesterday afternoon, and caught a quick snippet on the radio. They were assessing the Southampton -Arsenal game after Saints had just gone 2-1 and the difference between the performance and those under Mark Hughes. One of the pundits I didn’t catch his name, said he was under Hughes at QPR and was saying the players knew his time was up, so they were left with do you try harder and prolong the enevitable or ease off and speed up the process to give your more games to get yourselves out of the danger zone. He went on to say most players think that way and the Southampton players would have had the same attitude.

Makes you wonder!

Jokanovic is interesting but part of why he was sacked was he couldn't sort Fulham's defence, so that would be a concern, also I can imagine the reaction from fans to hiring the guy Fulham just sacked, I don't think it would be welcoming

Can anyone seriously see Top turning up and firing Puel?

Not going to happen unless we lose several in a row and relegation becomes a threat.

Vichai was the hard-nosed one in business terms. Sad to say, but that's one of the most important things we've lost. A strong leader.

wasn't it Top that sacked Pearson and Vichai that overruled it during the great escape season?

I think that is the only way he gets sacked in season but I can see Top planning for the summer and doing it then

It was the other way round according to Percy and Winter.

Higuaín was there under Rafa, he was there from 2013-16, Rafa left a year before Higuaín did
