I think it's harder to sack them than some realise. Whoever said the racist remarks will surely go, but exactly what are the others guilty of? Unprofessional, disrespectful behaviour? Our manager doesn't have the best record in that regard. And if this was organised by the club or the hosts, how many other players are guilty of the same things, but weren't stupid enough to film it?

Just release them then, no fecker will want them anyway.

I would be surprised, especially post La Manga, if all player contracts do not include a Role/Responsibility clause - 'possible dismissal if actions bring the club into disrepute '

I would imagine breaking the law would be enough, in this case prostitution and pornography, both of which are illegal in Thailand. Though, I agree this should be done properly, and with all the due care and attention required to make it waterproof. Having said that, I really hope Nigel isn't trying to delay it until Pearson jnr. is out of contract.

There was something about there being different ages of consent for prostitution in Thailand. If that's the case, how could it be illegal?

Thinking about it further though, didn't our country introduce a law against 'sex tourism' a few years ago that the Three Dunderheads might have fallen foul of?

A quick google and it seems to be a somewhat grey area. While not strictly 'legal' it is not strictly 'illegal' either. The laws are more concerned with child prostitution than anything, though the penalties for the prostitutes are quite draconian. 7-20 years, and in some cases life, though they phrase it as 'living off the earnings of prostitution', rather than the actual fact of being one.
Still leaves them with producing pornography.
from wikipedia :
[h=3]Thailand[/h] Pornography laws in Thailand prohibit all types of pornography. Production, distribution and possession with an intention to show to the public are criminalized. Possession for personal use is legal. The law enforcement is relatively light. Other forms of pornography such as yaoi and hentai are illegal but are common over the internet.

So filming it is fine, sharing it is not. Bang to rights, I would say.

Fair play then. Although would that be a crime in this country? There is an argument for saying that breaking an law which could be seen as unjust overseas shouldn't be punishable in the same way - e.g. what would the reaction be if we had a gay player who was visited by his partner during our upcoming tour of the middle east?

Another grey area though is that the players named didn't actually film it themselves.

Looks like Blatter could be facing charges for that too then!!

I would assume the unnamed cameraman is also the one who distributed it?

Are we sure that's the case? It looked to me as though Hopper was holding the camera.

Well, while my sympathies would be entirely with the player and their partner, and I would hope that the club would feel the same way, I would also assume that the player would be well aware of that country's laws and attitudes to homosexuality. And as such, would respect them, however offensive we may think them. Unless, of course, they were trying to make some kind of protest. Which would open up an entirely different can of worms...

Whereas my attitude would be "give him one from me" in terms of disobeying such unjust laws. Just by there being difference we're already in that can of worms...

It doesn't matter who filmed or shared it, from what I've heard none of them were unwilling participants, so appearing in 'pornography' makes them as guilty as the sharer, and subject to the same law. Participation equates to producing.

So by that theory the women are equally as guilty then?

I'm not saying anyone was in the right or wrong here, just trying to show that it really isn't as simple as just sacking them.

No we're not. The law is the law. Ignorance is no defence. They would have known. Those countries always make it quite clear what their attitudes to homosexuality is. Just because we find their attitudes appalling, doesn't mean we have the right to break THEIR laws.
