Reported variously as between £3m-£3.5m.

Surely the record signing question is something City fans just know? I've always assumed that if you asked a fellow Fox to name our record signing he or she would say, without hesitation, Akinbiyi. It's like asking what our old stadium was called, or what year the club was founded. It's an easy one that nobody should get wrong.

I suspect that most City fans would get the name of our old stadium wrong.

No it's not, it's such a tragedy that it has a human beauty attached to it. Like Othello or Hamlet such a tale of suffering and frustration defines what it is to be human. A record signing like Akinbiyi's resonates about you as a reminder of man's fallacies and failings and makes you re-asses your own self and being in a the way a successful record signing like Fernando Torres doesn't.

I never want us to break it!

Food for thought there.

Kevin MacDonald and Gary McAllister were bought for very little and we sold them for a handsome profit.

One of the worst ever sales was swapping Jimmy Melrose for Tommy English

Value for money, for me, would be Walshie.

Think we paid 100k (would need checking) and got 10 years of committed service. With a couple of trophies thrown in.

Walsh was an excellent defender, a wholehearted servant for the club and a true legend. But he never made you gasp. I mean him no disrespect when I say the £100,000 for Keith Weller was far better value.
Weller was arguably the second best winger in the country - those were the days of George Best. Older fans will remember him showing unbelievable control at top speed on pitches that were dreadful and against fullbacks who got away with sheer thuggery. .

I hope that one day I will see another Leicester player to compare with Steve Walsh. I know I will never see a Leicester player to compare with Keith Weller because a player that good would want Champions League football.

I believe another all-time great Frank Worthington cost about £100,000 Jimmy Bloomfield's other buys were Jon Sammels £100,00, The Birch £100,000. Dennis Rofe £70,000. What a manager. Thank you Jimmy.
