So it’s the same scenario as 1991, right? We need Tony James to score a winner and hope the team above us don’t get anything more than a draw.
Who is gonna be this years hero.... I'll go for Ndidi.

Souttar big header to win the game.

We go down anyway because Everton score 2 late goals, but Souttar is the new hero in the Championship and becomes our modern day Matt Elliott for 2 years until he's sold to Liverpool.

Hate to say it…that missed penalty against Everton will be the moment for me.
It sticks in the mind for sure but there are umpteen other examples you could have used.

Without doubt.

I also keep going back to Rodgers refusing to make any subs against Brentford in the opening match. In a strop.
And the one sub he did make completely gave the midfield over to Brentford from which they dominated the game and scored two goals. 2 points pissed away that would be oh so vital now.

But there’s so many moments. Gifting Liverpool a win up there. Vardy missing a hat-trick of chances at Stamford Bridge and being one of the few teams to actually lose to Graham Potter’s Chelsea. The penalty against Everton. Letting Southampton do the double on us - that one is truly inexcusable. Ndidi’s pass for the Villa goal, Maddison against Bournemouth. Ward letting in Chilwell’s goal… and these are just off the top of my head.

Last few seconds at Palace too.

Thrown so many points away this season it's hard to blame one or 2 specific incidents.

Even the first game of the season set the tone and I still don't think the players have mentally recovered from losing to Spurs in injury time so you could easily argue our relegation goes way beyond this season.

I can see this happening:

Leeds survive.
Everton and Leicester go down.

All next season, regarding The Championship, every football media thing - the papers, the BBC, the SkySports, everyone - will only look at The One Team in the Championship - Everton.

Every one of their games will be watched, analysed, SkySported. Everyone else, us included, will be ignored.
