Re: The annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded Winter 2012/13 rumours thread

Manchester United have taken the young Leicester City attacker Jeff Schlupp on trial with a view to signing him on a permanent deal.

Schlupp, 20, has been training at Carrington with the permission of his parent club, who have a close relationship with United and have taken players on loan from the Premier League club in the past.

I find this hard to comprehend. He's not a bad player - but I don't think I've ever seen anything that suggests he's good enough for this.

I wouldn't be surprised if the story is true and they have taken a look at him though. But I don't think they'd sign him.

The only times I have were when he played left back. Although he was caught out a couple of times (hardly a shock for a young striker playing left back) I thought he looked very composed and was great bringing the ball out of defence and helping out in attack.

I could definitely see them being interested in checking out his potential a bit further for that position.

Well he's not a left back for starters.

Is he not? How do you determine this exactly? Is there like a DNA test that you can do that specifies exactly which position a player is capable of playing?

Shown enough for ManU to want to consider signing him, but not considered good enough for us to give him a sniff

Marvellous

Maybe ManU are trying him out in his best position unlike our last few managers, Sven letting him score 3 in a league cup game then moving him to LB was a classic.

Would have thought United have enough strikers, including 'ones for the future'. At left back they have Evra in possession and Butner as the young pretender, may be they are looking at him as cover wide left with Giggs 39 and playing in field and Nani leaving?
