Why are we sponsoring someone? Are they doing a marathon or a parachute jump or something? what's the charity?

just a thought why dont you goto the open day and collect the money there you could stand next to the trust stand just so we know where you are :icon_lol: ;)

Even if you were joking we wouldn't have a problem with that, it's all about raising money to back a young player

Let me get this straight - we have to ensure that we know what we are getting for our money, do we? I had presumed that what we are getting for our money was the nice warm glow that comes from the knowledge that we are doing something that will benefit one of the Academy lads and might in turn benefit our club. I wasn't thinking of what I was going to get out of it.

Still, I have learnt something today - something about the FT and its morality. They can't even be altruistic with somebody else's money!

No that's not it at all, it's just in previous seasons it became unclear what was & wasn't included within the package, such as free tickets to the end of season players awards.

This type of confusion put a few syndicate members off in the past, so we thought it was worth mentioning it, so the organisers on here don't hit the same issues.

Do agree that for most, including me, it's just about backing a young player, but that's not the case for everybody based on previous experience.

Stick a tenner in from me then.

I'm glad to read that you agree with me. It seems a pity that some, in your experience, seemed to have missed the point. I am sure that would apply to none on here, all having fully realised that a fortieth of a ticket to anything at all has little value.

I now address myself to the people who have pledged to this - were any of you hoping to get anything out of it other than that warm glow?

I haven't pledged anything yet because warm glows don't excite me too much

nope im just happy to help city and the player we get ,plus if jeff lets us use talkingballs too see it each week in the programe will be cool :icon_bigg ;)
Me too, but sponsorship is a 2 way thing. I am not in the habit of shelling out money for a warm glow.

I shell out £335 each year on a season ticket, + merchandise money and away tickets every now and again and that is more than enough for any private individual to contribute to a club. Sponsorship is for businesses.

I am considering sponsoring one myself as a business and seeing my company in the programme each week gives me a brighter glow. Selfish, yes probabaly, but that's sponsorship.

That's you fault for not paying early and getting the 5% discount.

good on you melt's but not all of us own business here so what BG came up with is a way a internet forum can do somthing other than post and moan;) , i could do the same as you but im happy to do it this way ,most of us here buy season tickets each year i get 4 each year ,sponsoring a player is a differant ball game to buying a season ticket ,sponsoring a player will help the club (traing ground) and that player, it helps to cover some of the cost which would normaly have to come out of the club .ie travel to and from games and cups .

Not quite, I lived in Essex for 5 or 6 years and had to work a lot of Saturdays so went without. I moved back to Leicestershire about 4 years ago and as a result this is my 4th ticket in a row and didn't qualify for the additional bonus. I did renew early and got a discount but not the extra loyalty discount thingy.

So there
