I think Stearman was carrying a bit of an ankle injury in the last 1/3 of the season from pretty much ipswich onwards i believe so i think that had something to do with the slight dip in performances. I still thought he was one of our best players across the season

Chimbonda has handed in a transfer request, could be a worring time ahead..

Paul Jewell has stated that he wont accept any offers below £6 million, I can't see any clubs paying that much for him.

So if we believe the press Jewell thinks Chimbonda is 12 times the player that Stearman is based on 'published' valuations - I think not:102:

The valuation Wigan have placed on his head is to ensure they recieve their true valuation, truth is he is probably worth 3m, by doing this they may well increase the price to 4m or above.

To be honest the more they recieve the better, likelihood would then be that we could negotiate an inflated price for Stearman.

With this development in mind, I would be very surprised to see Stearman lining up in a City shirt next season. The truth is we are not in any way, shape
or form favourites to go up next season, and with McClaren being named as new England Manager, and with the traditional rebuilding associated with the appointment of a new coach and the end of a major tournament, it is highly likely that Stearman's advisors will feel now is as good time as any to progress into the premier league.

Wigan would be a decent step up, as he would more than likely be a regular and if he could have a decent season then as in Chimbonda's case, he could then use it as a springboard to bigger club.

Could we really??? Who has been ridiculed this month for saying we should demand £4 million for every player in order to inflate thier price???

didnt stearman state a while ago that he did'nt want to move and stay with us :102:

So have many other players in the past, to then within weeks sign for another club. In Stearman's case I genuinelly believe that he is happy at Leicester, however some serious interest from the premiership and an unsettling word or two in his ear from his agent, plus the club accepting an excellent offer will no doubt force a change of heart.

Something completley different from 'selling anyone' IMO.

We've got to keep our best players, simple as.

Easier said than done, based on the performances of the last two seasons we are a mid table championship club with very limited resources, this makes our better players fairly easy pickings for premiership clubs, also due to our financial position can we really afford to turn down a decent offer, which may allow the manager further flexibility in the transfer market.

We have to be realistic, we have a number of assets at our club, who fortunately are on decent length contracts, this at least gives us the comfort of knowing that were we to lose them then we would no doubt be well compensated, which should allow us to strengthen the squad and help move the club forward. In a similar way the Connolly deal helped buy Fryatt and Hume.

As I have said before, at some stage he will be off, but if I were advising him, a further season in the spotlight at Leicester learning his trade is better than warming the subs bench at a larger club. In the long run this would futher his career much better. Money wise, I don't think we are under any major pressure to sell him unless somebody made a really stupid offer - we are not hugely well off, but we are no in a position where we have to have a fire sale. Another thing in our favour is that his contract has three years to run.
