As I have said before, at some stage he will be off, but if I were advising him, a further season in the spotlight at Leicester learning his trade is better than warming the subs bench at a larger club. In the long run this would futher his career much better. Money wise, I don't think we are under any major pressure to sell him unless somebody made a really stupid offer - we are not hugely well off, but we are no in a position where we have to have a fire sale. Another thing in our favour is that his contract has three years to run.

A fair comment in footballing terms, but lets be honest there are few agents who would take such a view, I am sure his advisor will be 'persuading' him that his future lies in the premiership, and with it a hefty pay rise for Stearman and a fantastic commision for the Agent.

Take your point, but my boss is a Licensed Agent, and I think his view would be the same as mine. Plus, the commission would be higher in a year's time when ( probably ) the transfer fee would be higher. Plus, the agent is most likely receiving a commission ( albeit smaller ) from us due to the contract extension he signed earlier. It may be difficult to believe, but some agents do work in the long term footballing interests of their clients.

Easier said than done, based on the performances of the last two seasons we are a mid table championship club with very limited resources, this makes our better players fairly easy pickings for premiership clubs, also due to our financial position can we really afford to turn down a decent offer, which may allow the manager further flexibility in the transfer market.

We have to be realistic, we have a number of assets at our club, who fortunately are on decent length contracts, this at least gives us the comfort of knowing that were we to lose them then we would no doubt be well compensated, which should allow us to strengthen the squad and help move the club forward. In a similar way the Connolly deal helped buy Fryatt and Hume.

I'll raise you Emile Heskey

I don't want to come over as unduly pessimistic, far from it. I think Stearman's a talent and it's hard to replace talent with talent. Particularly when it's home grown. We should be fighting to keep him tooth and nail.

IF and its a big IF we can manage to get back to the premiership next season, then I believe we will be in a position to hold onto our better players, with the security of the parachute payments should we come down again.

If we dont get back up soon the likes of Paddy Mc, Stearman, Hume and Fryatt will all be gone to further their careers.

The valuation Wigan have placed on his head is to ensure they recieve their true valuation, truth is he is probably worth 3m, by doing this they may well increase the price to 4m or above.

To be honest the more they recieve the better, likelihood would then be that we could negotiate an inflated price for Stearman.

With this development in mind, I would be very surprised to see Stearman lining up in a City shirt next season. The truth is we are not in any way, shape
or form favourites to go up next season, and with McClaren being named as new England Manager, and with the traditional rebuilding associated with the appointment of a new coach and the end of a major tournament, it is highly likely that Stearman's advisors will feel now is as good time as any to progress into the premier league.

Wigan would be a decent step up, as he would more than likely be a regular and if he could have a decent season then as in Chimbonda's case, he could then use it as a springboard to bigger club.

the post makes a lot of sense, I do feel money needs to be made from transfer fees this summer and if they can get it all from one player then the board will be happy. I would be surprised if wigan hold onto their current man and if he goes as expected then stearman will probably be off from here. It would be a real shame having only got 1 proper season out of him but it should help the club if we replace him properly.

ture but wont he should be part of RK nucleus which he talks of

to quote rk

"we will not be releasing anyone " :102:

if a 4mill offer came in I dont think it would be RK's choice.

I don't think they would replace him with a green rookie in the Premo - they would go for somebody with a little more experience than the Stearmeister, and certainly someone with a bigger pyhsical prescence - the lads still growing and needs to fill out!

Maybe so, in which case the name Curtis Davies will probably be in Stearman's people's thoughts, I'm afraid. Even less experience at this level than RS when he moved, and it's only done his career good. Maybe someone should remind them about Matthew Piper to balance things up.
