I’d rather we give Smithies a new contract and get rid of Ward. I think Ricardo’s injury record might mean he has no takers. Might be stuck with Amartey too. Instinctively, I was gonna say he’d be okay in the Championship but then I remembered the Blackburn game. I could see someone wanting Faes given his Belgian cap.

If we go down, our squad will be entirely dictated by contractual situations and our ability to move players on. Every one of them will be for sale.
The main issue we have is very few players have clauses which drop their wages if relegated. We have recently tried introducing them but few of the current group have them.
If they're out of contract, they're gone. If anyone bids a decent amount for any of the rest, they're gone.
Our squad would be whoever is left plus a bunch of loans, free transfers and kids.
And even then our financial position is totally untenable.

It was mentioned in the papers a while ago that city had started adding relegation clauses to contracts recently, it probably means that they only have them for the January signings.
