.................What happened last night here in Kent seems to have been completely a different case which will be reported on by the IPC in due course.

let that happen then but some on here had the copper who fired the shot hung drawn and quarted over an hour ago.

The Independent Police Complaints Authority has already investigated and reported on htis incident. Your understanding of this incident is completely at odds with what was concluded by their inquiry. Huge mistakes were made by the police on that day and the behaviour of deMenezes in no way led to his shooting. In particular he did not run from armed police - this is now admitted by the Metropolitan Police...........

I have not read the full report boc so I will not give anymore opinion on this.

Whilst you have a completley innocent Brazilian chappy justifiably gunned down in cold blood for no reason whatsoever :102:

i dont think the officer with the gun wanted to kill an innocent person homer, it's a bit insensitive to think that. The bloke's there trying to do his job, not just shoot random people. I bet he would want to turn back the clock just like anybody else.

I never said he did

Fc's argument appeared to indicate that he deserved what he got

I see your point but from the evidence I had heard he was showing the no signs of being an innocent man, boc has pointed me in the correct direction on this now and I shall not give any further opinion on this.

Did he just walk onto the train before being shot?

I ask because i genuinelly dont know.

I thought he was staying here illegally?
His visa ran out a couple of years ago or have I been misinformed?

I have read what people were saying and just as you clearly have no idea of the results of the deMenezes Inquiry, people here have clearly not taken care to acquaint themsleves with the incident which happened yesterday evening.

It is one of the good things about the system in this country that the IPCC have an Inquiry every time somebody is shot by the Police.

That is true. It is not a capital offence in this country.

The report of the IPCC Inquiry is available on the net.

Which was another 'mistake' by the police :icon_roll

I don't think the IPCC have reported on this one yet, but it is widely believed that the shooting was 'accidental' in this case. However, the followers of natural justice would believe that this bloke 'had it coming' far more than deMenezes did.

Indeed not, but it is a deportable offence and ergo he is not innocent....

He was innocent of anything he should have been shot for.

Assuming the bloke they shot is the one with the shotgun...

From my point of view, it was a joint enterprise, and if the police thought they/the staff were in danger, and taking any of them out reduced that danger, I'm all in favour of it. If someone had been shot by one of the robbers, all three could have been charged with murder as it was a joint enterprise.

I have rarely seen so much ill-informed specualtion in a single thread. I'm sorry to pick RS's post on which to base my reply because many people have been equally as inaccurate.

Some facts:

The incident did not take place at a bank - it was a building society.

It was 8 o'clock at night so staff would not have been there (unless they had been kidnapped and dragged there from home - there is no indication of that having happened)

Three? There were at least four raiders involved - one of them is dead - three of them are in custody.

Thank God for the IPCC, so we don't have to rely on 'internet chatter' for our information!! :icon_roll
