Fantastic colours, it's an amazing place isn't it, although rather smelly I seem to remember !

The bird DF shows is not all blue though.

Indeed, but the ration of blue:other is considerably higher than in the ones found in the UK.

I don't really care though, it doesn't prove that King is worthwhile so I need focus my attentions

No blue birds, but a nice snake this week, a Black-tailed Rattlesnake. They are the most docile of the rattlers, which is not much consolation if one bites you, I suppose, knowing it did it in a laid back manner.

I went out to water me plants the other evening and was shocked to find that some bugger had plucked all the leaves and some of the chilies from my prize chili plant. I didn't have to look too far for the culprit...

It's the caterpillar of a particularly massive moth called Rustic Sphinx (Sphinx moths are known as Hawk-Moths in Britain). You'd think a bout of indigestion might follow, but their food plants are apparently members of the nightshade family, of which chilies are one.
