It would be very interesting to know what you believe Law 12 actually says in relation to the awarding of a direct free kick. I can see nothing that suggests that the ref got it wrong.

I think it's likely that, in common with most people that play and watch football (including many of those who play it at the highest level), he has only the haziest of ideas of what the Law actually says. The law has not changed; it's just the interpretation of reckless that has been tightened up on.

FF said that he could not see anything wrong with the tackle; the referee clearly thought it was reckless in that there was no consideration for what was going to happen after the ball was taken.

I just don't see how it was reckless. It was strong, verging on aggressive, but I guess that we will have to just disagree (referee included).

It's always funny to watch them lot get pwned. Same situation as us last year, except they hate their board as well as their manager. Who is available though? Billy Davies surely wouldn't go back.
