Connor Wickham would be a really good signing.

Slight concern over his attitude for me, but Pearson wouldn't sign him unless he thought he could sort that I think. And he has a lot of potential which he started to show signs of fulfilling last season.

Shame but if they cant find a creative way as they must have done with kasper then his demands must be high. The transfer fee is low so he is entitled to a big signing on fee - not sure how the two sides cant work it out but we need players who want to be here so perhaps its for the best.

Agree with that St Albsns Fox.

Really? He clearly wants to be with you or there'd be no discussion. Sounds to me like yer scratting could jeopardise the move.

If our scratting maintains our wage structure and therefore our squad harmony then I would be happy not to sign him.

So we're not going to sign better players, who can command a higher wage, with the hope of not upsetting the less good players.

Talk about preparing for relegation.

QPR have got an offer in for Steven Caulker.

I know they're likely to throw a lot more money around in transfer fees and wages than Pearson will, but Caulker is a player I'd love to see us sign.

I'm with Camberwell on this. just how good do some of these players think they are. He is not at international level, played for a small club club, his scoring stats are not that impressive, a hard worker yes,but that criteria can be applied to a number of strikers in the premier league. The wages he has been offered at Leicester will not be less that he currently receives and has probably been offered more as a enticement to join, however if all he can talk about are his wages, then we are probably as well off without him, greed is not a nice trait and can be very destructive in a team environment.

I wouldn't want to sign anyone who broke our wage structure and potentially therefore would upset the apple cart.

Although I agree we need some more quality the one thing that was prevelant last season was the never give up attitude that was last in appearance during the MON era.

We will need this in bucket loads next season in some of the games but overall outside of the top six or so sides I believe we are as good as they are, if not better than most.

I stick my neck out and predict a 12th or above finish, there I've said it.

I bet Cardiff wish they'd have scratted a bit more than they did.
Agree. Spending the ridiculous amount we did on Cornelius and Kenwyne Jones was a key factor in our relegation.I wish we'd had 3 Campbells last season though.

Agree. Spending the ridiculous amount we did on players and changing our colour along with our great team spirit went a long way to helping maintain our Premier League status.

Fair doos.

Excellent post. This is a player who may well not make the first choice starting XI. What message does it send to players like Nugent or Vardy if Leicester bend the wage structure to accommodate a player who may well be on the bench for most matches.

We will never have one of the most talented squads in the Premier League but togetherness and a lack of "big time Charlies" can make the team better than the sum of its parts.

I would also think that so long as we stay up our wage structure will be able to change from season to season (upwards) as we hopefully cement ourselves in the top flight and build season on season.

This will of course accommodate a certain amount of natural wastage as those on short term contracts are shed and better players bought in while the progressive ones are given increases to keep them in line with the better incoming talent.

From what I have heard, and seen (on TV), Campbell would be a good signing; but not worth breaking our wage structure. Not only might so doing upset our current players, but it sets a bar for future signings. If Messi asks nicely, I might be in favour of stretching our wage cap, but Frazier Campbell, I think not.

Now, I'm going for a lie down before I become a NP supporter! :icon_bigg
