Genuine question but what has Barnes shown in his appearances for us that people rate/value him so much higher than Gray?

I think part of it is that Gray has been here for 3 years and has shown no improvement in that time what's so ever. Potentially even going backwards.

His stats have generally been very poor.

Barnes had a fantastic half season at West Brom with goals and assists. He looks like a real impact player to me. But probably more importantly he comes across as someone that is learning, working on his game and doesn't think he's made it already like Gray.
