Out of interest, what has Cahill done lately to impress you? He was part of a Palace defence that conceded 66 goals last year. I'd be happy with him temporarily, but nothing more.

Good job it's a temporary situation then. Cahill has been at the top level for years, regular at Chelsea playing in the UCL, picking up silverware and challenging for titles. Vestergaard was in a Southampton defence last year that was ****ing shite as well.

I think we needed a CB before the Fofana injury. We need a short term addition to cover for him as well as a longer term addition for squad depth.

When the alternatives are Kabak and Vestegaard I think bringing someone of his experience on a free for a year makes sense. Couple that with a quality longer term addition like Dr Vrij or Lenglet and we've made the best of a bad situation.
 
We wont see Fofana again this season if we want him back properly....
 
Vestergaard wouldnt get a game in any of the other top 4candidates is my only problem so i see no reason why he should for us.

Because we can't afford to go buy someone that would.

Although, with other clubs enjoying the "relaxing" of FFP rules due to Covid, its a bit of a shame we can't do the same - but then maybe we'll reap the rewards of that in the long term.

If they were all able to play. Maybe. Can't help but think weve taken a gamble on Evans being fit after rest which hasnt paid off regardless of if Fofana is injured.

I'm beginning to doubt we will see Evans anytime soon if at all. He hasn't broken or torn anything so if it hasn't healed after all this time that's not very promising.

Vestergaard looks quality when playing for Denmark. He looks quality sometimes when playing for Southampton.....but they're fairly ****ing shite if we're honest about it. I wasn't overly impressed with Bertie at Southampton but he looks really good.
