I very much doubt If this had been a permanent deal that it would have been a straight swap, so perhaps it's been done as an initial loan swap for FFP reasons until the summer when the deal can be concluded long term. Or both clubs have taken the opportunity to offload two unwanted players, put them in the shop window for the summer window. Silva could return in the summer with 5 months football under his belt and ready to stake a claim for a first team place under our new manager, there are all many of scenarios that could be at play on this one.

I feel for him. He needs to be playing and he could still offer quite a lot in terms of how neat and tidy he is as a CM and his ability to come from deep and pop up with a few goals. He has been treated appallingly of late. Good luck to him where ever he ends up.Andy King to become a sheep?
