Be careful with all this: you are playing with a man's livelihood. (Almost a classic 'Carry On' line, but you know what I mean).

In fairness, I really don't think anything mentioned on here will affect a man's livelihood. Aside from those on here when under employment.

Most of his questions were mumbled nonsense, I found it embarrassing to listen to. Ask the NP question by all means, but today was not the day to do it. He gets enough access to MM to ask those questions another time.

I'm not sure thats true at all. I spoke with Stringer a couple if weeks ago and he said he'd neither seen nor spoken to Mandaric in months.

I really don't think there should be a Stringer witch hunt. Whether you like him or not is down to taste really. Some will like his approach to commentary and some won't. We are not in a position to make a personal tirade against him, since he has done nothing wrong of note. If you don't like the guy, don't listen to him, simple as that really. Anybody try the interactice service during the world cup? Turn Motson off and listen to 5 live! Cracking!

I used to do that a lot several years ago until Alan Green started getting most of the matches.

I quite like Alan Green. Very self opinionated and sometimes controversial but he keeps it interesting.

Green is one of the best commentators around IMO.

He's an arsehole.

He's always moaning about something, and often it's at the expense of telling us what's going on in the match.

Much of his moaning about the officials, but he makes more mistakes than they do.
I remember once when he described one offside decision as the worst decision he'd ever seen, saying a player was 10 yards offside but the linesman didn't flag. I was watching the match on the TV at the same time and the replay showed the linesman got it right.
So if he can be that sure about something and still get it wrong why should we believe any of his attention seeking rants?
He's also crap on 606.

This isn't about his commentary, it's about his conduct at the press conference

I know it was about that. Is there a code of conduct that I can read please? I am unaware of what rules he broke? Or did he just not ask the questions that some people wanted?

I'll also add, I didn't particularly think his questions were great but for fecks sake, he hardly needs to be strung up for misconduct. I cannot be arsed to moan about a football commentator when there are much bigger things happening at the club at the moment. Plus there are various other sources of information if I want to find things out.

Blackburn
Man City
Fulham
Blackburn (2001) Man City(2002) and Fulham (2001)? Hardly that recent BG

Plus QPR by the looks of things this season. And Portsmouth, but they had a good chairman when they did it. Wait a minute...

So your saying our last promotion to the Premiership is recent? because thats the same time Portsmouth got up.

And QPR haven't done anything yet. And they've been fecking around the last couple of years, but things have now improved because they've got a decent manager proven in this league...

Sunderland.
True, can't argue with that, but its the exception.

I seem to remember this being brought up by Hazz and Homer recently. Teams who have gone up in the last 5 years

Reading, Sheffield United, Watford, Sunderland, Birmingham, Derby, WBA, Stoke, Hull, Wolves, Burnley, Newcastle and Blackpool.

Bar Sunderland, none of them have done so because of a massive cash injection from a foreign owner. They have either had good spirit (Blackpool, Burnley, Hull, Watford), have slowly built there team up by having stability and spending money wisely (Reading, Wolves, Sheff United, Derby, Stoke) or have come down from the Premiership and had a strong basis to go back up (West Brom, Birmingham, Newcastle)

So ultimately, history shows you that the teams who go up have stability, a Premier league squad or a good manager who gets the best out of his players. Not some foreign owners coming in and spending money on unknown quantities. Obviously its too early to say with us, and we could get promoted in the next year or so. However the common theme in this league is why I am skeptical this is the best route to success

Give them a chance! The takeover has yet to be ratified, Sven hasn't even met the team yet and you point out we are still in the Championship :102:

I wasn't having a go at the Thais. I was pointing out that so what if we have them and Sven, we are in no different a position to when Milan came in, except we got relegated, promoted back, and have a shit load of debt.

The last two seasons would indicate that you are as likely to get promotion with a manager with experience of getting teams into the Premier League (McCarthy) as you are by employing a manager with recent experience of getting a team relegated to League One (Holloway). It would be even more likely if you employ someone with **** all experience of management (Hughton, Coyle). Or you could do a Brum or West Brom and spend a reasonable sum with a manager with a reputation built from other leagues.

I dont have a problem with the questions he asked, I just think that he would of been better asking them at a different time. The press conference should of been about us moving forward, not looking back.
