I'm not sure thats true at all. I spoke with Stringer a couple if weeks ago and he said he'd neither seen nor spoken to Mandaric in months.

Well he was posting on his twitter only a week or so ago that he had a meeting with MM to do an interview. For someone who has no contact with him he seems to play enough material from mm on radio leicester.

I dont have a problem with the questions he asked, I just think that he would of been better asking them at a different time. The press conference should of been about us moving forward, not looking back.

I agree entirely but I don't think the amount of stick that stringer is getting is warranted.

Have to say that over the last few weeks Stringer has asked some decent challenging questions of Mandaric, Hoos and Sousa - about the takeover, about performances, about Sousa's tactics and team selections, and this time about Pearson

It has made a refreshing change from the excrutiating psycophantic drivel usually spewed out by both RL and the Merc

Having said all that, he sounded like a complete twat at that press conference - but I actually respect him for what he did. The way this club has been handled recently has been nothing short of a disgrace and it's about time somebody made the lying feckers answer some proper bloody questions

He's still a twat, though

I think Stringer's criticism is undeserved here. He's clearly come a long way from the man who just pissed off NP last season. If these questions were never asked, everyone would be moaning at him for that. Maybe it wasn't the right place for the questions, but Pearson only spoke out the day before, so if he left it any later it would have been forgotten about.

And by doing it during the press conference, Mandaric had no way of avoiding the question without looking suspicious. If he asked the questions on a poxy Local Radio show, MOF could have quite easily side-stepped or refused to answer.

If it was after the questions to/and or about Sven - moving club forward etc., I think it is very legitimate.

Milan is a serial manager sacker. God knows what the pay-off to Paulo was. Sven will not have come cheap, either salary or team investment.

If Pearson's comments are at odds with Milan's, then the public/supporters have a right to know if Sven is likely to end up as another expensive 9 match wonder.

It may now be Thai money, but every million that is wasted on paying off managers is a million that cannot be spent on team development. That does not take into account stability for the team and club either.

true but the manager is the most important man at the club, if we stuck with sousa as an example he could spend 10 million pounds and still get relegated, whilst paying him off eg. a couple of million and then a new manager can spend nothing and out achieve him. I stick by the view changing a manager is cheaper than changing a team, our team in truth doesnt need a lot of development from the end of last season to get promotion. The mistake was not holding on to pearson.

WBA and newcastle are 2 others.

the investment was the fact they carried on paying high wages out of parachute money.

Blackburn (2001) Man City(2002) history shows you that the teams who go up have stability, a Premier league squad or a good manager who gets the best out of his players. Not some foreign owners coming in and spending money on unknown quantities.

On the flip side, how many teams have failed to go up after spending lots of cash in this division? I can't remember many (if any) spending large sums and not making it.

IMO the team last season was limited (especially without the loanees) and the 76 point haul was probably the peak of its achievement.

As for Stringy, his credentials for his job seem to extend to a sub-Kamaran grasp of footybolloxspeak, particularly the phrases "early doors" and "big unit". However in asking some relevant if long- winded questions of MOF of his chaotic management style, he at least grounded the press call in some reality - so good on him.

I don't think he has been here long enough to qualify for that, but knowing football it will be exempt from that too.

I like Stringer. There, I said it.

I like his commentaries and I like the fact that he'll ask questions where others bottle it.

He got right under MMs skin again today. There is clearly no love lost there and quite right too.

I expect an ambitious journo to challenge bullshit. Stringer is rough round the edges and makes mistakes, but he's in a different league to the likes or Barber, Foulger, Sinclair etc.

I'll say this. His commentary drives me to distraction and I think he is awful at it. That said, I agree that asking difficult questions and being a general pain in the arse to the club should, and is Stringers job...and he shows a talent for it.

Wot he said.

Homey Womey, you've been spot on all season. Now, if you'd just stop sending those harrassing texts, you and I could get along just fine.

The clue was in my post.

I've been really impressed by his willingness to ask awkward questions - we haven't had anyone prepared to do that for years and given the shysters at the club now, that's a really good thing. We could have done with that 3 years ago, too...

His commentary - it's strange. I always feel he's obviously a fan - but he's so middle class that in trying to overcome it he searches for absurd cliches and can sometimes barely talk to the professional footballers he shares the mike with. That said, I really like him. Best local BBC reporter for a long, long time.

Stringer goes East..........

Ian Stringer joins Leicester City on Thailand tour

BBC Leicester's Ian Stringer has been invited to join Leicester City Football Club on a landmark tour of Thailand - the club's international break.

The Foxes are flying 12,000 miles to Bangkok and during their week-long tour the first team will play the Thailand national side in a friendly on Saturday, 9 October 2010 at 1200 BST.

As well as reporting on the game, Ian will be posting regular updates with pictures of the club's journey - the players meeting his majesty The King, visiting The Emerald Buddha and more.

I have my lucky charm around my neck so fingers crossed!

Do I change my body clock from UK to Thai time?

Will my socks make it to Bangkok and how much do my two cases weigh?

I've not had a chance to get excited yet, although the train journey to Heathrow Airport will give me enough time and I still need to research the Thai players, wish me luck.

My next entry will be from Bangkok after a 10-hour flight with Mark Sharldow from BBC East Midlands Today and collecting my bags, I hope.

I have my lucky charm around my neck so fingers crossed!

Who are the players for Thailand and what clubs are there in the Thai league?
Ian Stringer, BBC Leicester

I found out late this afternoon that BBC Leicester is sending me, with Leicester City Football Club's permission, to Thailand to cover their week-long tour.

What jabs do I need? Trip to see my best friends the engineers and establish whether our broadcast equipment works abroad?

And before I can even think about checking and packing my suits; who are the players for Thailand and what clubs are there in the Thai league?

Keerati scored their last goal in a 2-1 away win against India in September 2010.

Can't stop thinking 'What will Martyn Waghorn say to his majesty The King if we do indeed get to meet him?' Gonna be a late night!

Check back for regular updates. You can also follow Ian's journey via Twitter .
