Vardy Racism Row

It is not Vardy that the club should be worried about.

Look instead for someone with a dark imagination and an unholy heritage. I hear rumours that two Panorama journalists have already disappeared investigating Castle Wasilewski.

Let's not play daft Mackers. It's long been used as a slur. I can understand the cultural confusion, and it's entirely possible Vardy wasn't aware of this.

As for your final point I can find Ni**er offensive without actually, you know, being black. That line of argument is very reductive in my opinion.
Wasn't playing daft at all, I was being entirely serious. The words 'Jap' and 'Nigger' are not in and of themselves automatically offensive, although people may choose to be offended by them. The context in which they are used and the intention of the person uttering them are what is important.

If Castle Wasilewski was a real place it would have to be investigated by Scooby-doo. Obviously.

I bet the guy in the mask would be Rob Kelly.

"Mr. Kelly? The creepy caretaker (manager)? Jeepers!"

Gangster shit dropping the n-bomb like that mix master mack!

How come that in a thread about things that are offensive no one has mentioned Spion's playlists?

Looks like they've removed it after they realised they'd got it wrong.

This is what it said:

LEICESTER, England —

England and Leicester striker Jamie Vardy has apologized after he was filmed using racist language toward a Japanese soccer player in a casino.

British newspaper The Sun on Sunday released footage that appeared to show Vardy using a derogatory word for a Japanese person three times to fellow gambler Shinji Okazaki in a Leicester casino on July 26.

In a statement released by Leicester, the 28-year-old striker apologized and said “it was a regrettable error in judgment I take full responsibility for and I accept my behavior was not up to what’s expected of me.”

Leicester said it was looking into the incident.

British broadcaster Sky Sports reported Monday that Vardy spoke to Okazaki, a Japan international who joined Leicester in the offseason, about the situation and that Okazaki accepted the apology Vardy made in his statement.

They presumably read this and misunderstood it - http://www.skysports.com/football/n...no-issue-with-leicester-team-mate-jamie-vardy

I actually thought they might have been taking the piss out of the utter absurdity of the Sky story.

What the **** did Sky think would happen

Surely, an awful lot of this is in the delivery. Were I to say, "The Japs produce some good electrical goods", the use may be unfortunate but, were I to refer to a person of indeterminate oriental origin as, "A stupid Jap", then that would be crossing a line.

Vardy must realise that he is now a Premier League footballer and, as such, earns a healthy salary but, also has extra responsibilities. Particularly in the light of events during the summer, Leicester are going to be targeted by, what I shall loosely refer to as journalists, and I would have hoped that everyone at the club would have been reminded of their position as ambassadors of the club. I would not like this to end with dismissal, as per our youth trio but, equally some punishment is required; possibly a fine and extra unpaid community work.

Nobody earns a healthy salary of £2.3million just by kicking a ball about in a stadium for 90 minutes a week. They are paid obscene amounts of money as wages to be entertainers, and frankly I expect better behaviour from them. If he cannot get drunk without picking a fight in public, then he should stay indoors. I do not think he should be treated the same as the Thailand Tossers, who deliberately made their activities public. Vardy may have believed that by being in a private club, he was out of the public spotlight. I am concerned that CCTV footage which is supposedly only for criminal activity to be passed to the police has been passed to the media, but Vardy does have a social responsibility. It is the fans, through turnstiles, SKY or BT that pay his wages. They should expect better behaviour. Huge fine please, donated to Kick it Out or similar and some form of community service.

I agree with all of this, except the last part. We don't pay his wages. No more so than I pay your wages from buying products from your company, or pay a public servant's wages by paying taxes.
