got my tickets today. The two seats next to me have been empty all season (cant understand why?) and I asked for these for two friends to sit in for the villa game but they were unavaliable. Must mean they have sold a few if they are even selling seats next to me now!!

I see that we have now given Villa a load more tickets for the fixture and that season ticket holders in L1 and part of the Family Stand are going to have to move seats!

Lot of bollocks being spoken on the OS about it though. Villa didn't have a right to those extra tickets - they only had a right to them if they exercised it within 3 days of the draw. Still, what does it matter if a few home fans are inconvenienced when we can get another 956 Villa fans in there?

Pah!

Added bonus ? The cheeky ****ers!!

And lcfc gave them tickets when there was no need to have done so. If you're a season-ticket holder in L1, I'll bet you are delighted! I think I would be demanding one of those cushioned seats in the West Stand - and letting them know what atmosphere really means!

From the OS:
If you are a season ticket holder in blocks L or N, please contact the Ticket Office, either by e-mail at [email protected], by telephone on 0870 499 1884, or by post. The Club will be able to relocate you and post out new tickets immediately.
If you have already purchased your tickets, please note these are now invalid and will not allow you entry into the stadium.

Surely it should be up to the ticket office to contact people in the affected areas, rather than the other way round. Not everyone will get to hear about this before the match.

And why the hell did they sell tickets to people in these areas if they knew there was a chance Villa would want them?
Why not hold back sales until they knew for definite?

What's going to happen if a couple of hundred Leicester fans turn up on the night with tickets for L1 they've paid for but are no longer valid for the match?
I bet some of them will still get in - using a different turnstile, but they won't have a seat.

I don't think we could have expected them to decide by then. Within 3 days of the draw we may not have known the date of the match, whether it was on TV, and how much tickets cost. But I'd expect them to have to make a decision within a few days of that happening.

It's not a case of what we expect or don't expect - the Carling Cup Rules are very clear on the matter. We didn't have to give them those extra tickets - and in doing so we have inconvenienced our own fans and caused more work for the ticket-office.

See rule 22.2.1.

but earnt a potential extra £20k in the process....

I know what the rules say, but if we'd asked Villa to make a final decision on tickets before the date, prices etc were decided they could have been very awkward about the negotiations for price etc, or they would have had a legitimate grievance if they'd taken their case to the Football League.
I agree that we shouldn't have given them the extra tickets - but not that they should have decided how many they wanted before the prices were set.

A total balls-up - and caused by City having their eye on something (anything!!) other than the needs of their own fans!

If season ticket holders for L1 and N haven't already got a ticket for the game, they will in any case have to contact the ticket-office. But if season-ticket holders in these areas have already bought their own seats for the match, it has got to be the job of the ticket office to make contact. To do otherwise is to risk people turning up with invalid tickets and missing the start of the match in the time it takes to issue new ones. The Club can not be sure that people will read of the change, as you say.

And all of this could have been avoided!!

All of the first batch of tickets went to Villa season-ticket holders and the same is expected to happen with the extra 900. Villa season ticket-holders get the same pricing offer as do City's. The amoutn to be gained is therefore less than £10k.

And who is to say that City fans would not have filled those seats at £20 each. With the commission that goes to Villa for selling the tickets, we would have had to sell less than 400 of them to make the same money.

I agree that we shouldn't have given them the extra tickets - but not that they should have decided how many they wanted before the prices were set.

The rules also state that the two clubs must agree prices immediately after the draw and if that had been done, there would be no problem in enforcing the '3 day rule' on the allocation. I am sure though that they could have insisted that the allocations were finalised at the time of the agreement on prices.

But once again, LCFC chooses to inconvenience their own fans on their biggest night for some seasons - and all for the sake of a sum which can only be about £9k at the most.

We'd only get 45% of the extra ticket money - if it generates any extra.

Good point - I'd forgotten that profits are shared in the League Cup. Please strike any reference that I may have made to City inconveniencing their fans for the sake of about £9,000. The fact is the most that they can make out of it is a measly £4,302 - minus whatever it costs for the ticket office to sort out the mess that this crazy decision has put them in. And that ignores the fact that they could have made a larger amount had they been able to sell them to our own fans.

Amateurs!!

I think this is one of those rules that is rarely adhered to, the timescales involved are unrealistic.
The draw was made on a Saturday, I think it's unreasonable to expect them to think about it until the Monday - and then I'd expect them to want to know about the TV coverage before the prices and allocations are set.

But once they did agree on pricing and allocation, which was done within a few days of the draw, they shouldn't then be forced to change it.
So either the club is lying to the fans about Villa having these extra tickets due to the rules, or the club had already told Villa an extra allocation would be available if they want it. Either way LCFC come out of it looking like they haven't got a clue what they're doing.

WTF is the Stoke voucher about, they are giving me £5 off a ticket that is in my season ticket book....... I would be happier with a crisp fiver instead
