getting back to the start of the thread, my only comment was that we shouldnt start wanting Levein out and we should not just abuse the same old scape goats! We should except the defeat, move on and keep behind teh team on Sunday![/quote]

We do this but we keep getting let down by them.

you read some posts on here after a defeat, and you hope the poster is not near a window ledge or a strong piece of rope!:icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

mmmm, not at all a nice thing to have to think about on your birthday, eh? :113:

I'm not calling for anyone's head, but when I go to games, I don't expect us to beat everyone, but what I do expect is to see the players trying. I know there are times when we will be outclassed by a better team, I can also accept that there are times when we will play poorly (law of averages and all that). But what I don't expect is to go to a game and come away feeling a little cheated, and this is how I'm feeling right now.

When MA's was here, I dreaded going to games, and whilst I have been more optimistic since his departure, the longer we go on without making any real progress, the more inclined I will be to think it is time to change.

To Rugby?

Surely u can Levein until the end of the season, where would you be happy to see City Finish? Top 6 Top 10?

Evenin' all, thought I'd come on here as foxfanzine.com is full of these modern people who think we're getting promoted when we win a match and that the manager wants hanging when we lose one. I'd rather they moan on forums than get arsy at games though.

I pretty much agree with the proposition at the head of this thread, but I've had low expectations for a long time now. I find it's an approach that works in life.

Kevin, are Think Floyd a tribute act?

Welcome Polar Bear as you can see we are a much more optimistic bunch on here........

Welcome

"some well known, some obscure" - Wot, like Scream Thy Last Scream? Deal me in if that's the case...

Thanks for the welcomes, everyone. As you may have guessed, like the shapely Maria S I'm one of the insanely optimistic London branch. Last night was enough to test anyone's faith though. Boredom out!

Like I said first, at the moment I'm not calling for him to be sacked. I would really like to see it come good for him, but at this moment in time I can't. A few days ago, I was arguing he should be given until the end of this if not next season, but today, reflecting on last night's performance, I'm beginning to worry we'll have another relegation battle on our hands.

Where would I be happy to see City finish? I'd be happier with top half of the table. And come May 1st, anywhere above 21st place will do! What would make me happy is seeing our players having a go and at least trying.

I know that we are rebuilding etc, but you can only rebuild for so long. At some point, this will no longer be a valid excuse. And sometimes, you can see that whatever rebuilding is taking place just isn't working.

You'll have to excuse me, I've got very mixed feelings on this, and for fear of wittering on, I'll leave it there.

Going back to City...

I'm actually surprised we have as many points as we have...A better start than I was expecting...;)

It's been a desperate day, following the desperate night before, but I think the fog is now starting to clear.

I hope that CL is the best man for the job and I am hopefull that results will turn around. Whilst being hopefull however I can't say that I am overly confident, to achieve this I need to be confident that CL knows what are the priority / major problems and solutions and that he hurts as much as the rest of us after a night like that.

It's times of desperation like those following last night that I want to hear CL being more honest and open about the performances and players. He comments after last nights game that "for the whole of the first half and the beginning of the 2nd half we were fine", well I am sorry but I can't agree with that we were average at best. The rest of his comments were too "nice", last nights performance deserves a more honest and frank assessment, with this I will carry on believing, without my beflief will die.

Is it really a lack of effort or totally disintegrated confidence - I think it is the latter.

The fans getting behind the team at the Way (as they do away) can only help. Better than that would be to get an early lead (something we have not done too often) and a couple of lucky wins and the confidence will start to return.

This is where Levein and his coaching staff need to earn their corn and get a reasonable squad motivated and believing in themselves again (and maybe the coaching staff need to start believing in themselves first). Confidence is a brittle thing and can make the best sportsman look second rate and not putting any effort in (because they want to hide) very quickly.

Quick question to all.

Why do you go to games?

I started going to games, and got hooked on the *excitement* the slow rise from your seat as your stricker picks up the ball in the box. i remember living every tackle, and pass and shot. the buzz at watching a 50 yard pass land right at the feet of a player, and seeing someone in your shirt rising above the crowd to meet a lovely swinging cross from the by-line. watching a player evade tackles like he's the only man on the pitch. the joy of seeing your goalkeeper get his fingers to a sure goal. watching your striker turn and making the net bulge. Ultimately it was the antisipation and the desire that come the final whistle your team would be on top.

I haven't felt that way at a game in ages, for too long i'v been disapointed, the excitement has been replaced by low expectations.

I can live with my team failing from time to time, i can even live with the occasional dire performance, but not consistantly.

How can any so called fan be satisfied with 10 wins in a season? thats all we'll have at the present rate. and about 50 points. which got Gillingham relegated last year.

If your happy to sit back and watch it happen, i don't think you can call yourself a supporter!
