We got lucky tonight, not convinced we deserved a point there. Not that they were any good, just that we didn't seem to have any ideas. If they'd pressed on for a third they'd have got it and I doubt we'd have equalised again. Good to see us finally using set pieces properly though.

Happy to oblige:

Defending was shocking for both their goals, Powell was too slow all night.
They had two chances which they took then sat with 9 men behind the ball all game, lumping it forward when they got the chance, we lacked any ideas to beat this system really.

Two good headed goals from us, Howard missed two sitters. Overall we didn't play badly, we just had no inventiveness going forward against their block of players.

This is the problem. Our strikers are missing so many chances.

It was fine when we we'rent conceding, but now that we're letting in a few we have a problem.

Thought Gilbert was poor defensively for both their goals.

First half hour we were utter shite, couldn't seem to string more than a couple of passes together. Oakley and King were cack.

Their goal came because their player was allowed to waltz from their half well into ours without being tackled(despite King beig there all the way) and the ball going over to Nichols was it? Who didn't seem to hit the ball cleanly, but it managed to go through Martin and Hobbs, though I think Hobbs might've got his foot on the ball.

After that they woke up, and got a bit of attitude. Passed it about and pushed forward, but not with much being created from the forwards. Great ball in from Gradel for King to score and it did look like we would go on from that.

But second half we were still back in the changing room when Walsall got back in front, free header and Martin really didn't have much of a chance.

We huffed and puffed a bit, passed it, but then hoofed it forward before trying to pass it again.
Another good set piece delivery finally saw a defender get on the scoresheet.

A neutral would say it was a pretty fair result. Walsall weren't scared and put us under a fair bit of pressure, they've got some big lads who got stuck in and ran our defence ragged.

Thought Hobbs and Powell was poor, Gilbert and Gradel seem to have a good understanding when they play together, midfield is still our problem area imo. Oakley at times goes missing, King- despite scoring- is too lightweight and wimps out of tackling far too many times. It doesn't do any favours to whoever is playing upfront, especially when one is very much a carthorse and the other who has to drop deeper to get the ball and in doing so isn't where he should be to waste yet more chances:icon_roll.

Disappointed that for all the possession we didn't do more with it. And yet again excellent chances wasted have cost us points.

It won't be the last time this season we will be rueing missed chances though!

2 shocking goals conceded, total lack of creativity from midfield to break down 7 man defence, the wingers should have been the key but the ball wasnt supplied to them fast enough, and when they did get it some of the crossing was woeful.Worried about the lack of midfield options, was Adams injured tonight, didnt even make the bench. As poor as we were we still could have won if Howard had taken either of his chances.Looked a lot more driven when Mattock and Kisnorbo came on.

I don't think we were lucky at all, and although we were poor at times and defended badly we deserved to win as we attacked and created more chances.

They man marked our wingers off the pitch, and it took some good runs from King and Oakley to break up their defence. I think the fact that we had two clever footballers on the pitch really fecked them up and created more room for the wingers, we played mutch better football than them IMO. They created two good chances and took both of them, and on another day Howard would have gotten a hat-trick but for some poor finishing and a goal line clearance.

Have a word Ted.

"it took some good runs from King and Oakley to break up their defence"

they would need to run in order to do this. They are the worse central midfield pairing we've had in nearly 20 years and that includes Junior Lewis + 1 or Lee Marshall + 1.

We scored from two corners because their keeper was shocking. We are top 3 inspite of our performances not because of them.

Hobbs needs fcuking off back to liverpool and quick.

A big positive tonight though, Kisnorbo and Tunchev looked very good together.

I'll preface this observation (?) with the fact that I have yet to see a game this season, but it seems to me, from listening, watching highlights - and, of course, reading the pearls of wisdom on here, that our main problem is a lack of pace up front.
The RL commentary implied that Walsall were a big team as were Millwall and, as we all know, the way to beat these tactics is to have a speedy little striker.
We're doing well and I am sure that Pearson is aware of our short comings: let us hope that he rectifies them in January. Certainly no need to panic!

i think the defence should be Gilbert, Tunchev, Paddy K and Mattock, we need to get a decent midfielder in and a another forward to create more competition seems like Fryatt and Howard know that are the starting 2 up their that if they do miss these chances they wont be dropped cause their is no one to replace them.

spot on,this team is not far from being very decent, get a box to box midfielder and a pacey striker as you said and the league is ours, thai i am convinced.

going back to the walsall game, the only way to beat teams who put 10 players behind the ball is to get the wingers to take on there fullbacks, this drags players out of position to cover and helps the attacking midfield to get forward whickh king and oakley dont exploit.

hence i would like to see if nicky adams could play that box to box role, surely likes to get forward.

We lacked the craft to break down a team that put nearly every man behind the ball. You have to keep the ball and be patient. Your defnece also has to mark as a unit making sure their odd man up front does not get a sniff and you have to get stuck in and win the ball back quickly when you lose it. We were not great at anything last night.

The only real positives - the continuing return to fitness of Kisnorbo and Mattock and the fact that we came from behind twice and tried to win it. Last season we would probably have folded.

and what good decent midfielder and striker wants to come to Leicester and play in this low division?

Ever heard of the transfer window? What we could get in on loan isn't going to be any better than what we have already got.

I have heard of arrangements where we sign players on loan and then agree to purchase them in the window. Like what's happened with Brian Howard @ Sheffield United.

Fact is we were complete and utter cack from start to finish - every feckin' one of them

The most worrying thing is that the moment that a team try something different tactically, we have absolutely no idea what to do. And our defending was as bad as I have ever seen it

Piss poor

The one bright spot on the horizon is Paddy K, who looked (and is, obviously) a squillion times better than any other player in our squad. Him and Tunchev looked very good together, albeit they had placed ten men behind the ball at the end

Most disappointing that we chose to play the game with only ten men - Matt Fryatt deciding to run around like a headless chicken, give the ball away and generally get in the feckin' way of everyone. Never thought I would ever say this, but I was actually praying for Barry Hayles to come on and replace him. Sadly, he didn't

Shocking stuff
