Maybe not but I don't know what we were doing with that Mark Yeates because he looks a fair player for Colchester.
I've said it so many times H that it must be boring by now, but this club destroys players. We've seen it so many bloody times, and we keep on seeing it.

I think that Ollie will be sensible in the transfer market avoiding Iranians and Portuguese in favour of proven British players. One of my worries is that players may not want to come here if there is a serious danger of relegation.

He could always try doing what MON did and find players, not necessarily playing at the top level, who are hungry for success. Matt Elliot came from Oxford, Muzzy from Cheatsea reserves, Lily from Crewe etc etc...

None of the current crop look exactly hungry for success.

Sadly that seems true Newts. In fact, a lot of them hide away and don't bother getting into decent positions whereby they can actually receive the ball.

This often makes their teammates (who have played a ball into space) look like twats because some lazy fecker never bothered to run into the gap.

On a bright note thought the half time band was good :icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

Didn't hear them when they turned to face the family stand. Couldn't we have given them some mics?

They are better options upfront than what we have but its our midfield that is so woeful that it wouldn't make that much difference if it was Torres,Rooney and Adebayor.I don't think I can remember a team of ours with such poor midfield

Indeed as they would be played in a ridiculous front three formation that would be so isolated from the rest of the team as to not even be worth being on the pitch.........

My mate and I were both convinced that Craig Beattie was in a offside position when the ball was passed to him before he scored, but there has been no mention of it on here or from Ollie, so looking forward to seeing it again on the Championship tomorrow morning.

I was level with it, it was definitely onside.

The defence wasn't in a straight line, there were at least two defenders playing him on, on the left and in the middle.

I thought we played a good side, as good a footballing side as I've seen in this division - Greening was superb and their midfield was head and shoulders above ours.

In terms of effort I don't think you could fault any of them but we were outplayed and there's not much you can do when the opposition are so much better.

West Brom were a far, far, superior side but they could have tried closing the opposition down to stop them playing, they could have tried man marking the player that makes them tick (Greening) they could have tried not going missing for large periods of the game (Clemence/King/Chambers), they could have tried concentrating (Stearman).

Bollocks just typed a reply and it crashed.

Anyway, King and Clemence played well IMO, King was constantly looking to get on the ball and get us going forwards and was always willing to look to recieve passes from team mates.

Likewise Clemence, who (with King) did well against probably the best midfield in the division. I agree we should have got tighter to Greening quicker than we did (we managed it for the majority of the 2nd half but he'd settled by then) but Clemence's use of the ball and effort was good.

Stearman was at fault for the 1st goal, he needs to concentrate far better, but on the positive side his distribution was good and he did ok against Brunt who was excellent.

Incidentally, no one bothers to point out that Stearman was constantly exposed as Chambers can't defend and was always out of position or ball watching. Chambers didn't get into the game but it was his first start against the best team in the division and his lack of product wasn't down to any lack of effort.

Spot on - the club was severely ripped off this summer. I would include in that the excellent business that Birmingham City did with us - we were certainly screwed there.

However, I think it would be a mistake to assume that we are going to be able to make any quality signings in January. Who is going to be keen to sign up for yet another relegation battle.

We have to rely on what we have and hope that Holloway is not the man to break the trend of the last few years - and be the one who could not beat the trap door. This is in no way whatsoever to criticise Holloway. He has simply taken on a squad that is totally unbalanced and without even the quality to compete for middle table status.

I think we are missing DJ a lot at the minute.

If the players we have aren't good enough then I don't see what IH can do. I can play tennis against my mates, but the best motivator in the world couldn't get me to beat a professional.
