    Scunthorpe 1 Leicester 2

I suspect Howard's return will be immediate. We only had 36% possession yesterday, the lowest share of the ball this season by far. The ball just doesn't stick when he's not on the pitch. Meanwhile, Andy King has now scored more than Howard. Hmm.

Time to play into my hands again.

It's funny that thewhites brought up the fact promoted sides from League One haven't always started well. I took a look into this in July. Whilst other teams don't need to start well, history shows that when Leicester start on form they get promoted. In fact, the last time Leicester were...

    Leicester 1 Hartlepool 0

What concerns me about our recent performances is we're allowing teams lots more opportunities in front of goal. MK Dons, Stockport and Tranmere barely had a sniff, but we let Orient have 13 efforts on goal last week, and Hartlepool had 16 yesterday. What happens when we play a team who will...

    Foxes v Imps........JPT

Absolutely no excuses not to win this one. Lincoln haven't won a game in the JPT since 2003 so they clearly don't care much for this competition either.

    Leyton Orient

It wasn't smash and grab, but we were hardly convincing. Far too often the ball was surrendered easily and better teams than Orient will make better use of their possession. I was glad to see Adams make a much better fist of things on the right than Gradel. He played with a bit of passion and...

    Leyton Orient pre-match thread

Best defence against the worst attack. This should be 3 points. Really looking forward to watching this, it's one of the few days when being a Leicester fan living in London is a positive thing.

    Millwall (1pm kick off)

    This season has been one for going against the Leicester City form book, but here's another jinx we need to break. Results in early kick-offs since 2002/03; 2002/03 Stoke (H) - D 0-0 Sheffield Utd (A) - L 2-1 Wolves (A) - D 1-1 2003/04 Tottenham (H) - L 2-1 Birmingham (H) - L 2-0...

    Card Watch, 2008/09

As an aside, Steve Howard has been responsible for more than 1/4 of all City's fouls this season. 23/90 have been committed by him.

    Top of the league

"Imperative"? That's a bit strong. The table will probably be entirely different by the end of the month when we play them. Every game is important.

    Top of the league

Oldham seem to have other ideas. They're 1-0 up. Brighton and Carlisle are losing though, so we could be 2nd at 5PM.

    Hartlepool Johnstone's paint trophy

Interesting stat: No finalist in the Football League Trophy has been promoted to the Championship this century. Make of that what you will.

    Top of the league

Indeed we did. 12th Apr 2003 is the last time we topped any division, Portsmouth lost 2-1 at home to Wednesday and a point at Rotherham was enough to put us top.

    Cheltenham Away

Only 5 teams won at Whaddon Road last season so we'll have to be in good form to win. I think we're good enough. 2-0.

    Fulham cup game

Fulham have been pretty poor in the Carling Cup in recent years. There is reason to hope, especially as Wycombe beat them at this stage in 2006. I can see us losing in extra time.

    Leicester City vs Tranmere

This is our best start in 11 years and it matches any start we've made since WWII. Whether you're impressed by that or expected nothing less I'll leave up to you lot. I'm relived. I think it's vital we set the pace this season. When Tranmere scored you sensed the confidence ebb away from some...

    tranmere - home

I'm too skint to actually put a bet on, but I'm calling this one another 2-0. 11/2 at William Hill for that one.

    Stockport (away)

In my opinion, that formation causes more problems than it solves. Of course you're in a rather good debating position here, as Pearson is never going to play the system you suggest. The next game City lose playing 4-4-2 you can bring up your formation again, safe in the knowledge that it won't...

    Stockport (away)

The teams we're playing may be weak, but Leicester are also weaker than they have ever been before. We're not going to walk this league. As for these 'tactics'. Chelsea may be able to get away with systems like this, but the above strategy is a disaster waiting to happen for the players we have...

    Stockport (away)

So 3 at the back with no cover from the wings? If Gilbert goes to mark wingers, the defence is weak inside. If Gilbert holds a more central position, the opposition have free reign over the flanks. Either way the team is exposed. Fancy a game of Football Manager sometime? :icon_wink

    Stockport (away)

So why put him in your team at wing-back? There's an inherent contradiction here.
  26. Foxblogger

    Stockport (away)

I'm intrigued, are you predicting a 3-5-2, a system we haven't played in years, or is this just what you'd like to see? Either way, Gradel would be wasted as a wing-back despite his strength in the tackle.

ITV Premiership rights for next four years?

The ITV deal with the FA is for Live FA cup rights and live rights to England games. It was a joint bid with Setanta, who will show the England away WC 2010 Qualifiers whilst ITV have the home games. Setanta will also show the majority of FA cup games this season. Match of the Day will be...
