It's closed, I usually turn right at Thorn Lighting but the bridge is closed, as a result Birstall is also Choc-a-Block

how come you don't get the train?! Its pretty regular and only takes 15/20mins?

I live about 3 miles outside of Melton, it takes me 20 minutes to get from my house to Melton train station, then I have to walk to the ground, and then i have the waiting around at the end for the train back to Melton.

I have thought about it Dunc, so thanks for the suggestion. The main reason I don't is that the day out is longer for me and it means I spend less time at the w/end with my children.

So, if it is a choice between leaving my kids earlier or later just to get to the 1884 early, I know which one I'm choosing.

But thanks for the suggestion and I will try it one day just to see how much time diff there is, if any

dont let the kids story fool you :018: he is a tight arse git and has never bought a round and it suits him getting to the 1884 at 2.55pm ;) :icon_lol:

No thats the A607 you're thinking of.

Instead of going straight on at the hobby horse turn right and get off at the slip road for loughborough (Not Birstall village). Turn left here and you are on the A6/Abbey Lane. At the end of that road is Redhill Island, where the flyover is being repaired. It will put you where you want to be when Watermead Way is open.

I find it the quickest way as i work in East Goscote and live near the Red hill Roundabout.

Thats generally the way I go Melton, now the Hobby House roundabout is finished, should be no stoppages, what I can think of. It's one of my driving lesson routes.

From Melton, it's just as quick to go through Queni and and Barkby Thorpe to come out through Troon

Yes but from the Troon you have to travel down Melton Road.

It takes me a max of 10mins to get to the ground from my house.

I go down Catherine Street as opposed to Melton Road

But that puts you the opposite side of the centre to the ground. Where do you park?
Brasil Street. It's dead easy from St Georges, just follow the ring road. I'd rather go that way than pass all the building work and road works around St Margs

I travel down blackbird Rd and then turn left onto Tudor Rd. Then travel down by MFI and the student area. Brings me out just short of Filbert way.
