It was an old joke. Something to do with things you don't see (in the street) anymore. Can't be arsed to look for the thread.
Does raise an interesting question though.....if I ate just boiled rice, white bread, egg whites, milk, mashed potato (no butter) and fish (no skins), would my crap would actually turn white and how long would it take? Over to you Melts.

Those "poor bastard dogs" were fed a natural diet of raw meat and bone (bone turns the shit white). Now, dogs are more commonly fed from cans and/or bags of prepared food which produce nasty-smelling brown shit.

If there are any dog owners here that don't like picking up stinky shite, then do yourself and your dog a favour, throw it a frikken bone once and a while.
