Capello resigns

Not upset Capello has gone in the slightest really. We've never really performed with him in charge (he's not had a great team to work with, but still should've done far better at the WC) and I think he's wrong to be defending Terry. In Capello's book it seems that sleeping with another player's wife is wrong, but racism is fine?

The only problem I see is that I think we'll now be going into the Euros without a proper manager. Here's how I see the new manager situation playing out....

Harry Redknapp definitely wants the job, and I think The FA will want him too. But not yet.
For Harry, he'll want to finish the season at Spurs after the season they've had; he won't want to walk away now. But, he won't want to turn the England job down because this could be his last chance to get it.
However, The FA won't want to hire him right on the back of his court case, despite being found not guilty. But, luckily for Harry perhaps, I also don't think they'll want the new manager to have to deal with the whole John Terry saga which, let's face it with the media in the country, will be dragged out from now until the trial. Plus, we're not in great shape for Euro 2012, especially having to get a new manager four months before it starts.

So, I think Stuart Pearce will become interim manager from now until after the Euros/Terry trial, and Harry Redknapp will then get to take over having finished the season at Spurs. That way he gets to avoid having to deal with all the John Terry stuff and the likely poor performance at the Euros.

So Pearce until July, then Redknapp. I'm pretty sure that's how it will play out.

Couldn't give a flying shit really what happens to the England team, International football is so poor at the moment I have very little interest.

Interesting(ish) that Capello has the best win percentage of any England manager in history.

I don't that we ever performed that amazingly, but then our squad has never been that amazing. I agree with what Graz has said above, and also think that Pearce would be excellent at the job, although an interim appointment will not give him much of a chance.

The qualifiers for last World Cup, we were nothing short of bloody good.
Renewed optimism for the Tournament itself, alas, injuries, scandals etc we know how it turned out.
Euro 2012 qualification was expected by many and achieved, but after the World Cup, on qualifying, many have said "so what".

Put Wayne Bridge in charge and let's have a party ;) (See if he pick's JT)

Harry would be a bit gutted if Pearce then went and won the Euros and got the job :icon_bigg

Well we knew that you wouldn't pick Anton...

Peter Taylor was brilliant with the U21s, Pearce is the same - he'd fail on the mainstage as he did in club football.

Ian Holloway is trending on twatter... idiots suggesting he should be Engerland Manager.

Graz - Interesting! How do you think that would affect your chances in the Euros?

Personally, I don't think Pearce would do a great job. But, I think whoever it is hasn't got much chance for the Euros anyway. I think the Terry thing will rumble on and cause problems in the dressing room, and whoever comes in hasn't got much time to assess different players and tactics anyway.

I've not looked at the fixture calendar but I'd assume that they'll have maybe four games at most before needing to pick their squad for the tournament, even if they were appointed right away.

That's why I think they'll go for an interim manager... because whoever it is will be up against it until after the Euros anyway.

Only thing that makes me think it might NOT be Pearce as interim is because of his involvement with Team GB.

Is there a vote?

Please let there be a vote - there's nothing I'd enjoy more than him being Ingurland's manager.

Can we have an accord on the spelling of Ingerlund, please?

Give it to an Englishman please. Someone who actually wants England to succeed. Capello has completely bottled it in my opinion. Used the Terry situation as an excuse I think. To be honest, anyone who publically backs such a dickhead is clearly a bit of a dickhead himself so not upset in the slightest. Glad he's gone sooner rather than later. Who is favourite for the job right now? Redknapp I'm guessing? Fair enough. Can he do England job and the Spurs job? Is that allowed?
