So, whether or not he is offered employment by City, or anybody else, is entirely irrelevant to the crime he committed.

Nope. Just saying, it could be worse. You probably aren't keen on the concept of your mechanic being a convicted armed robber, or the bloke down the chip shop having convictions for GBH, or your waiter being French, but that's how the world is. The fact is his criminal record is irrelevant to his employment as a footballer. If he came to City and did a job, that's up to the decision makers at the club. I don't have to like him or cheer for him or sing his name, and I'd much sooner not see him in a blue shirt, but if he scores goals for our club I'll still celebrate them.

Macky goes in for a philosophical point but there was nothing philosophical about the injury to the lady involved. The Coventry fans who were singing about her did not seem to be philosophers.

I suppose "That's the way the world is" could have been used to defend the sexist, racist and homophobic comments that were rife on the terraces in the 1970s. Would that be BM's reaction to vile chants from City supporters?

I will not comment on French waiters but since the last time I was in a Paris restaurant this elderly portly gentleman was kissed by a pretty French waitress I am keen on the distaff side of the profession.

How on earth have you made that leap of logic? In case you missed the post in which I told the story a few months back, the last time I heard Leicester fans shouting racial abuse at an opposing player (at then-Coventry striker Clinton Morrison as it happens), someone got 'accidentally' punched in the head. I'm sure an entirely coincidental repeat would be on the cards if it happened again.

Apologies.

I know from your record that you would be against racist, sexist and homophobic comments. I did not put my point clearly and re-reading it I gave the wrong impression about which chants I meant.

The vile chants I was referring to were those by the Coventry fans in support of Marlon King. Only Beaumont has taken up this point.

As for the 1970s chants I remember a match in 2002 (I think) with a black referee and a half-time march round by a women's football team. I noticed the absence of any racist or sexist comments. The change in those 30 years did not just happen - it came about because people made it happen.

I'd like to think the majority of Leicester fans are above that. However, given the ridiculous 'dog-eating' chants in 'support' of Yuki Abe, I believe I'd be wrong to think that.

Along similar lines to the complete twats at the back of SK3 with their almost weekly "she said no Sven" chants. I'm sure he really appreciates that and has been made to feel more welcome as a result ... Wankers!

The same wankers who bring up Nottingham Forest despite us playing anyone but Forest at the time.

I love how irate people have gotten based entirely on a story in the Mercury with no substantiated evidence behind it.

Crazy, referencing Sven in her complaint as though he has offered a contract and decorated Kings living room.

It may or may not be just an unsavoury rumour. If there is no truth in it then no harm is done. If there is truth in it the club need to know the feeling of a number of fans before they sign him.
What, Matt, would you have us do after we sign him?

the last time a 'fans' protest got its way we didn't get Warnock so tbh I'd rather the fans stay out of transfer policy.

Exactly. Fans don't demand a say in who works in the club shop or the ticket office. They shouldn't expect their arbitrary whims to be catered for when it comes to what players or coaches the club employs.

Then obviously the club won't complain if a sizeable proportion of their female support cease to spend their money on tickets or merchandise.

its a shame he has been to prison especially for what he did, if he was totally inocent and never been in the nick etc we would have a good freebie at the club. its just a lot of aggro signing a player like this. bring back dickov and malaga?
