Only worth runnng it again if we exclude old people, uneducated people and vile racists from voting

Otherwise we should just get on with making the best job of the shitty mess we now have to deal with

And include 16 and 17 year olds who'll actually have to live with this decision going forward.

I've moved back to Leicester now, but still working with the same team I was with in London, who are all happen to be African. To a man they all voted leave, due to the strain immigration has placed on public services

For me it should be 60% for a change as big as that.

If we weren't currently in and we were voting whether to go in or not, if 52% said in then likewise that shouldn't go through.
I am sure you would be bleating on like this if it had gone the other way.

The blatent disregard for democracy by the losing side since this outcome dusgusts me.

Farage was widely quoted beforehand saying that if it was 52/48 to remain it would be 'unfinished business'. What's good for the goose...

And since when has that useless old fecker made the rules?

Democracy trumps him and the entitled tosser who thinks he's more important than everyone else.

I might point out that in the UK's system of democracy, Parliament is sovereign and it is MPs who decide, the referendum result is only advisory. Personally, I'm OK with this vote, extraordinarily stupid as it may be, and think we should make the best of it however expensive the financial and social costs pan out as. Early signs look like many of fellow "48 percenters" disagree.

I've really had to stop myself from responding to some posts/tweets today (whilst I could when I had the day working from home) because I quite simply couldnt believe what I was reading. I really didnt have the time to get into an argument with someone who just couldnt accept the result and the fact that we werent all racist idiots who didnt have a clue.
The leavers don't have a clue. Neither do the remains (myself included). That's why the whole thing is ridiculous and dangerous either way.

There are a number of consequences as a result of the referendum that I hoped to see.

The first has been completed with the end of Cameron and Osborne's miserable attempt to lead.

The second looks imminent with the coup to remove Corbyn.

The country is fractured because our democracy is fractured. The two main parties don't understand the people of their country. 52% of them voted for something that barely a quarter of their elected representatives want. Removing the overseeing eye of the EU may eventually allow us to get some people that can recognise their own country.

One of the first warning signs was the votes for UKIP in last years election. Another the rebellion to select Corbyn a few months ago. These are protest votes. Nobody seemed to listen yet again and so now they get another lesson.

And yet we still have a substantial minority of people moaning and complaining about the referendum result. Don't you get it yet? The young and the old are divided, the have's and have nots, London v the rest. And I've not even mentioned the way Scotland has changed over the last decade or so.

This is not about politics and it matters not whether you're left or right. Thatcher divided this country and then morons like Blair and Cameron diluted it further with their soundbites and empty promises.

There will be many more controversies before things settle down. Maybe many more stupid leaders too. But at least the EU will soon be removed from the equation and the current idiots leading our country are on their way too. It's a start.

Chaos is good. In fact, it is excellent. Don't be afraid of it.

A very, very good post BN.

I wholeheartedly agree.

Yes looks like the Political fallout continues as Labour politicians are falling over themselves to leave now rather than have Corbyn as their leader.
He's sacked Hilary Benn and Shadow Health Secretary Heidi Alexander resigns and up to half of the Shadow cabinet are set to follow her.

Shambles.

History shows that chaos is only good if you are a fascist, communist or some kind of warlord. I'm not sure those are positive models.

Wouldn't want to be an immigrant, or the British child of one, or have a "foreign" name, or brown skin in the UK today.

Say what you will about your personal reasons for voting, but this referendum has legitimized and provided a platform for the extreme right and emboldened racist voices.

You are now living on a fault line. As an immigrant staring down the barrel at Trump, so am I....but at least I look and sound like "them" so I'll be safe ... for a bit.

As to democracy: the rights of the minority should never be decided by the votes of the majority. This referendum is a failure on that front.

You are kidding right?
