Re: Matty Fryatt

Who is this 'Vassall' you keep mentioning?
Do you think he'd play well alongside Vassell?

I think he is racist as he links black people with vassals. :icon_wink

Re: Matty Fryatt

I was just pointing out that Sven says one thing and then does another. Surely if a player is doing well in training he deserves to have a chance on a Saturday. Obviously Sven is going to pick the players he has brought in but i haven't seen anything in Bednar that suggests he is better than Fryatt, if he is that good a striker then West Brom wouldn't have sent him out on loan.
Vassell is proven quality and he will get better and better. I just think we are heavily reliant on midfielders scoring goals like Gallagher and King when it should be Strikers who get the bulk of the goals. But then i suppose as long as we are winning it doesnt matter

Perhaps it was a message to Fryatt that he needs to do well in training & stop sulking if he's not regarded as top dog by his manager

Re: Matty Fryatt

Fryatt is a good striker, with a strike rate of around 1 in 4/5. On the other hand, we have Vassell who has Prem League and International pedigree. He played well yesterday when played down the middle and is clearly a class above anything we've seen in that position so far for us this season. On those grounds, its Vassell for me and I'm afraid the Club and its finances have moved on, so has the expectation level and so to, in January, will Fryatt.

Re: Matty Fryatt

Fryatt has certainly divided opinion, hence the ongoing threads. I personally am still unsure though he is obviously a confidence player and needs the right handling. If Sven can't do then who can. However, for what it's worth on yesterdays showing i would have put him ahead of Bednar.

Re: Matty Fryatt

I'm amazed by the aggressiveness of people in their points of view on this site. It's good that people care so much about City, but seriously, 'what part of that don't City fans understand?' doesn't encourage open discussion. The guy scored 30+ goals which were a major part of getting us up, he had a good start to last season, got injured and hasn't clicked since. At another club he may do a job, he may even do it at City. It's not that unusual for good players to fall out of favour at a club, just because someone isn't always in the Leicester first team doesn't mean they're rubbish (see Theo Zagorakis in the 90s, Marcus Bent a few years back, Bruno Berner now) in fact even a guy who doesn't appear to cut it in the lower leagues can end up doing a job in the right place at the right time (Lloyd Dyer for example). I'm not Fryatt's biggest fan but, at 24, he's still five years younger than Dickov and Claridge when they became top class strikers. If you want to dismiss him as being totally useless I agree, you have to do a lot better than the usual 'he's rubbish, get over it, get off my forum' line.

Its possibly because there are never ending threads on the same subject and it gets a tad boring...

Re: Matty Fryatt

Which suggests people are actually bothered about it, as you must also have been to have gone to the effort of replying to the thread! No-one is morally obliged to say anything on the matter, but it's an ongoing matter, the guy's still at the club and still our City career best marksman on the books.

No, its more a case of people dont read old threads and just start a new one saying the same old stuff over and over again...

Re: Matty Fryatt

I understand that's not the etiquette, but is it really a problem for someone to do this? Especially as the culprit this time appeared to making a different point to the others (ie, Sven appears to be saying and doing different things and, on the day the Mercury says Fryatt's been sent a lifeline, he's completely overlooked) when he or she started the thread.

I wouldnt believe what you read in the Mockery.

Re: Matty Fryatt

Yes, point taken. The Mercury has, I noticed, been the source of at least one thread all to itself in the past. And, while we're at it, I'm not sure it's entirely wise to believe everything Sven says either.

Re: Matty Fryatt

Turn it in people!!! we won 5-1 thats 5-1 Fryatt took no part so why on earth are you moaning about him? who cares whether he plays we won 5-1!!

Fryatt plays well in a 4-4-2, but just isn't suited for Sven's current chosen system, for me it's as simple as that.
