Re: Matty Fryatt

With the front line-u we have now(except Bednar), I don't think any attacking player at the club can dent the line-up that Sven has/is choosing

Re: Matty Fryatt

If Fryatt had played we'd have scored ten

FACT.......

Re: Matty Fryatt

Best striker we have - fact.

How people can rate Howard ahead of him I do not know!!

Re: Matty Fryatt

I'm a big Fryatt fan and rate him ahead of Waghorn and Howard. However, I don't mind him not playing when we are playing as we are now. Vassell looks like he will be far ahead of our other strikers when he gets his cofnidence and form back.

However, the thing that strikes me a bizarre regarding Fryatt is the vehement derision he gets from some people. Waghorn and Morrison have been worse than us this season than Fryatt and have done less for us the past, yet none of them seem to get slagged off barely at all, whereas Fryatt takes a whole heap of criticism and people saying "he's not good enough" etc. It just seems to me like some people are targetting him solely for being out of form this season, as the multifarious criticism doesn't seem to be angled anywhere near as greatly to players like Waghorn or Morrison, who in truth, are probably more deserving of it.

Re: Matty Fryatt

I'm in the camp that holds that Fryatt is not quite good enough.
Whilst some people as counter evidence point out that Fryatt may have had a goodish start to last season, as always, he missed a hatful and Leicester's main problem in the first half of last season was their very low 'goals for' record. It matched teams in the relegation frame. As soon as Fryatt was gone, the 'goals for' ratio climbed upwards I seem to remember.
I think we have had him for long enough to evaluate that he is not quite good enough for a club aspiring to be in the play offs. He can still ocassionally show flashes of a mature version of the sensational 19 year old that arrived and virutually saved the club from relegation for Rob Kelly. But increasingly when he does reasonably well, he is just flattering to deceive. He does not do well on a consistent basis in the championship.
We have seen enough is my view. He needs to move on.

Name me any striker who this does NOT apply to?

Re: Matty Fryatt

I think that Fryatt is our best goal scoring option, but its a fact that for whatever reason he gets a lot of stick from people who can't or don't want to recognise that part of being a natural striker is that you sometimes get into goal scoring positions and fail to score.

My sense of it is that he will be driven out of the Walkers - score a lot of goals for someone else - and we'll live to regret it.

My sense is that Fryatt has not developed as a footballer for whatever reason. He came with a tall reputation (FIFA ten to follow) and apart from the first half season he has rarely shone, had a buzz about him, in the same way that strikers at other Clubs have.

Vassell is our best goal scoring option now especially if played through the middle.

Re: Matty Fryatt

Hmmm...I doubt Vassell's goalscoring ability. Never been one for 15 plus goals a season and twice in a City shirt, I've seen him through in on goal and come up with pitiful efforts.

Re: Matty Fryatt

Vassell played over twenty times for england and spent his whole career to date in the prem. This makes him our best shot. Gallagher and Dyer would be my preferred inside right and left if we continue 4-3-3. Bednar, Howard, Fryatt and Waghorn could get into 3/4 of championship matchday sixteens and give our bench a menacing quality to it.
For me the problem with Fryatt is that the team needs gearing to him in order for him to be effective and at championship level he's not good enough to build a team around. The fact is all his goals have come at league one level.
Until january when god knows which striker we'll sign we should stay as we are. I can see howard and fryatt going in january along with a couple of others out on loan to make room on the wage bill for some major punts to get us into the prem.
