Matt James played for the under 23's tonight in a 3-2 defeat to Sunderland

Matty James had a freak injury I recall it was his studs that dug into the turf didn't he play the entire season with Cambiasso?

No, he missed pre-season and the first month of the same season due to injury.

It's also worth saying that he actually 'recovered' from his injury last November. Ever since, he's been on his way back . . . .

Matty James, to BN what Schlupp is to Lako.

The difference is that I rate James as a player, I just don't think he will ever be reliable for us again.

Our midfield is vulnerable. Inler is being pushed out of the door. James is on offer to anyone that wants him on loan. King is a sub and no more. Amartey hasn't forced his way into the reckoning really.

So we have Drinkwater and Mendy. And Mendy has a lot of adapting and improving to do.

I also think we need more there to be able to play three in midfield much more this year.

We were much better with Albrighton and Shinji he acts like a third midfielder on occasion, you are right though if we have one long term injury we are in the shit, however Hernandez has played a holding midfield role for his old club, I dont recall Amartey playing in central midfield ever.

But swap Mendy for Kante and it's the same as we had last season, and that worked out alright.

I do agree that we will need 3 in midfield more often than last season - either tactically because we're being dominated in midfield (in CL games perhaps) or to give us the option to switch to 3 up front with Musa, Vardy and Mahrez. But I feel in a 3, King could play a starting role occassionally.

And I have more faith in Matty James coming back than you do. I'm amazed how much you're writing him off from one big injury.

I do feel like we need an extra centre mid, but if we go with what we've got it's not a disaster. But a ball-winning defensive mid would be a good addition.

If we end up with the central options we currently have by the time the window closes then we will be running a big risk of asking too much of certain players.

The Champions League will put stresses on us that we didn't have last season.

I agree and hope that we do sign another one (or two) but I still view the CL as a bit of fun.

I feel like I still know nothing about Amartey as a footballer.

Having watched Ulloa against Arsenal, He looked really good and was playing more in midfield than a striker. He holds the ball up well whether to feet or head and lays it off nicely.

Watched Hamza Choudhury as Burton got taken apart by Liverpool. Started as holding midfielder and when they went 3-0 down, he got pushed up to a more advance role, without much effect. But as the Sun says:

HAMZA Choudhury isn’t just a promising on-loan teen from Leicester – he’s also got a hairstyle that makes Marouane Fellaini’s look like a crew cut

Arguably he's going to be the LCFC player with the most distinctive presence since Jari Rantanen

we've had a pineapple head more recently.
