Naughton, Yakubu, Bamba, Schmeichel, Nugent, Konchesky, Peltier, Fernandes, Davies, Cunningham, Mee...

I think any other manager who had the financial backing that Sven has had could have signed the above players. I don't think it has anything to do with his contacts whatsoever. Its a pity that his contacts are not knowledgable when it comes to the Championship.

What sport do we play in the championship? Is it a different one to the Premier League?

Didn't he spend most of the summer getting bids rejected for a certain Bristol city striker?

If he felt that he was the man to fire us to the premiership why didn't he sign him? Perhaps the striker wasn't convinced that we were heading for the premiership with Sven at the helm

Because the club were rejecting the bids...jeez.

I thought our midfield was probably our strongest area last season, and when you realise that we had Abe, King and Wellens in our starting line up today who were all prominent last year, you have to question why our midfield is currently our weakest link. Maybe we should go back to the system that worked for us last year and go with the three central midfielders and two wide players.

Er... because Bristol City kept turning down his offers?

His contacts and previous relations were definitely the reason we signed these players from ex-ManCity as well as Bamba and Konchesky who he'd worked with previously.

Yes - it's fast and furious, requiring committed players who possess a good engine. Attributes that most of Sven's players lack.

**** off, what nonsense. The difference between the bottom half of the Prem and the Championship is negligible. You don't need 'passhun' or to play ugly in this league, you just need a good goal scorer and a good supply, the same as any other league. We have good, proven strikers we just need to sort out the supply chain against teams who clog midfield, something that someone with Sven's tactical knowledge will sort out. Roy Keane Ffs, I don't even know why I'm treating your posts as anything other than the ramblings of a mad man.

Every man has his price. It was bonkers to consider the amount that Sven was supposedly thinking of paying, but that was his judgement call.

So you agree he was right not to pay the amount they demanded, but say he should still have signed him?

I'd guess none, but that would mean it was made up, reactionary nonsense so I thought I'd give you the benefit of the doubt.

Another one that doesn't know what reactionary means.

Glad I didn't stay up to watch this result come in. That's a real choker. Rotating a team only works when you have a squad maleable enough to work with various arrangements of personnel. We don't have that luxury it seems. Sven needs to find the best 11 and stick to it I feel. What a difference Beckham would make right now! Come on Sven, bring in a creative midfielder or two in January. I'm going to put this one down to a freak result and move on. That's the only way I feel like dealing with it to be honest. On to the hammers. Not exactly confident we'll get anything from that one now but positive attitude helps.
